No need for the Celtics. The Lakers alone would bring the fans back.
The Lakers are far and away the most popular team in the USA & the world.
They need to be there.

Celtics-Lakers would certainly give good storylines which could be hyped. Then you have the Lebron versus Celtics storyline.

So that would certainly help ESPN sell the series and give the talking heads something to discuss.

Seriously don't understand why people are concerned with ratings... Basketball is not going anywhere, ratings do not affect your paycheck or your enjoyment for the game ya weirdos.

Most people just stream games online anyways.

both LA teams and Boston are elite this year, yet the ratings are the worst they've been in years...maybe it's not all about large markets (i know, crazy talk).

The ratings suck nationally and are actually good in local markets where teams are trying to win.

Reason for that is simple... you show gstate, the pelicans without zion and some Kawhi load management on over half of your national broadcasts... what do you expect?

Use some common sense by flexing these games and then show me the ratings...

Yes, they have a historic past but how often do you see people in other places wearing Celtics gear? Not even remotely true. The Celtics have a top 5 following in the world, the Sixers aren't even close. I think most people would agree the Celtics are a top 5 most popular franchise. The Cardinals are great in St. Louis but outside of it don't have that kind of following even with 11 World Series rings.

They have such a big following that I have never seen anyone wearing any of their clothing outside of BOS despite having lived in multiple large US cities. Must be quite the following !!! Heck, I saw more Chris Cooley Washington Redskins jerseys being worn when I was in STL than I saw all Celtics gear combined.

I would bet the average person off the street couldn't name even 1 Celtics player.
