Should Gobert get fined or disciplined

Hope Rudy Gobert can get quick and full recovery from the virus. He should take this opportunity to serve as an ambassador to increase public awareness.
That said, should he get fined or disciplined for what he did, including touching the microphone after interview and being playful in the locker room as complained by his teammates.
Another scary thing is, how did he get the virus. It would be terrifying if he got it from another NBA player and it has been widespread.

No. What he did was silly, and it's certainly easy to say he got hoisted on his own petard, but no. You don't fine people for this, that's ridiculous.

If he knew he was infected and did this, obviously that's totally different.

I'm grumpy enough with him to say yes, but the answer is no. He already has the virus and he's already humiliated about his microphone stunt and about passing it to his teammate (one would hope). Maybe make him take a class on personal hygiene and disease control awareness or something.

It was a dumb move and I'm sure he feels bad enough already. There will be no discipline

The man will likely always be remembered for this. That's his biggest punishment.

Come on man... like most things, it didnt get real until the virus hit home.

Most ppl didnt take any of it seriously because of the lack of information/relevancy to the issue.

No way. It was irresponsible what he did, but it could be sooooo much worse if he was aware if he had the virus.

It’s one thing to “not take any of it seriously”, it’s another to go out of your way to do what he did. Can’t imagine being the reporter’s who’s microphones and recorders were on that podium.

Should have his reputation tarnished.

I'd chop off his hands to prevent such shenanigans in the future.

Seems like the fairest, most prudent punishment.

[Note: Ridiculous online posters are ridiculous.]

No. He was joking like a lot of people have been. Had he known he legit had the virus I’m sure he wouldn’t have done that and I’m sure he regrets it now.

Woj also didn’t have to include that stuff about Gobert being careless w/ his tweet about Mitchell to fuel the blaming.

I think a stern talking to from his mother should suffice.

Depending on how things go from here for the people affected around him, his image will be viewed accordingly. Hope it doesn't lead to any deaths or serious issues so this can just be in good fun when its all said and done.

+1 for using 'hoisted on his own petard"

Based on some studies, some damage to the lung can be irreversible even after recovery. Hope it is not the case as that will significantly affect pro athletes.

I can imagine being those reporters. They were complaining about having to stand away from Rudy. At that time, they only cared that their access was being restricted. Look back at what they were saying at the time.

Rudy was showing the reporters that he was with them. With hindsight, yes everyone was not taking it seriously. But these gross misinterpretations of the situation and manufactured malicious intent causes real damage.

Many of us are in a situation just like Rudy is. We have the virus but are unaware. We just don’t have him as an example. Instead of making villains out of those infected, use them as an example of how we can be better. Like I said, there many who have the virus and are unaware.

If you’re going to go after anyone, go after those who are responsible for our lack of testing. People are going to keep spreading the virus if they don’t know they have it.

The touching microphones is so trivial in the first place. Gobert was playing basketball games, breathing, sweating, and making contact with people without knowing he was infected. That’s the situation we have to prevent, because it can happen to any of us. Unless you’re self quarantined with no symptoms at all, you are at risk of doing the same as Gobert.

Absolutely. A fine at minimum. Feeling like a dumbass isn't a punishment for being the cause of games being cancelled.

Seriously? The guy has to play in front of packed crowds every night in the midst of a pandemic. He's probably very nervous and just projecting a confident image to trick himself into not worrying. Then he gets sick and hated on by the whole NBA community for touching a couple of mics? Dude is a young man who did something dumb.....life goes on. He is not the reason for the NBA being cancelled. The Virus is the reason. Gobert is a victim here.

I hope anyone saying yes hasn't touched or even come close to another human being, touched a doorknob, handed anything to someone, or breathed in the vicinity so someone for the last couple of weeks.
