As the face of the franchise? maybe.
As a player, Duncan was never in the shadow of Robinson. He was All-NBA 1st team in his rookie year and finished 5th in the MVP voting, All-Defensive 2nd team and played all 82 games.

I remember been like 12 or 13 and glued to the internet all day waiting for all of that to happen. I was a massive grant hill fan.Drygon wrote:13th Man wrote:Name some players that were kind of held back but have risen above and beyond at the absence of the player, Here are a few that come to mind:
Tracy McGrady - Vince Carter
Bradley Beal - John Wall
Scottie Pippen - Michael Jordan - One could argue that Pippen was already flourishing under MJ.
Anyone else?
Eh, T-Mac would've been 3rd option next to Grant Hill & Tim Duncan if all things worked out as planned.
Orlando Magic were about forming a super team during 2000s weak Eastern Conference.

First 2 people I thought of were James Harden and Russell Westbrook.

Nash went from being a backup All-star game player to a full fledged MVP and arguably better than Dirk.
