Ever since I watched this game, my expectations for the rookie/celebrity/all star games have been set way too high.

And by high, I mean wanting players to show their ass and try to embarrass each other all night.

Francis was everything I ever wanted that game. Unnecessary. Cocky. Showboating. Disrespectful. Totally inconsiderate of the spirit of the game, the flow of the game, and the notion of playing any form of team basketball.

He was waving teammates off to dribble around a defender for 10 seconds, while going absolutely nowhere, for the sole purpose of making him look bad. He did it all game. I loved every second of it.

Come celebrate rookie Steve Francis's disregard for the unwritten rules of basketball and enjoy him trying to turn a sponsored NBA event into an And-1 mixtape.

Biggest surprise in this video is that Steven Jackson player for the Nets.

Great memory. I also loved that game. Was a big Francis fan.

Dude was a perfect representation of that era.

So, there was a guy named Khalid El-Amin who made the rookie team in 2001, and somehow managed to score 18 points, and then played 6 more games in the NBA. You always learn something.

Steve Franchise was one of my favorite player. Was excited when he got traded to the Magic.

One of the greatest shooters I've ever seen in person, I think that he played in like 30 different teams in Europe and I watched him in 4 of them

The problem with him was the lack of size and speed, he was a a bit chubby as well.

I watched him at UCONN as a young child and have been a Huskie ever since. I can't remember if he was a good player on that team or not lol but I do remember him having some signature moments when they won the tournament.

The closest thing we got to Stevie Franchise was probably Lance Stephenson, but hes more of a Great Value Steve Francis.

He played one season for at a time Lithuanian powerhouse ''Lietuvos Rytas'', and I loved him, but that was probably his peak, looking at a teams he have played for, not much brag about.

Khalid El Amin my main man. Saw the guy play in the aforementioned rookie game, next year he was playing here in Strasbourg with 107 years old JR Reid.

The 2000 Draft still is amazing to me. Some many great names in the lottery : Chris Mihm, Marcus Fizer and our very own french basketball legend Jérôme Moïso etc...

So I guess the highlights show the evidence why Stephen Jackson tried to fight an absolutely wasted Steve Francis in a club.

IIRC his attitude deteriorated towards the end of the season and he really ticked off Tim Floyd when he intentionally fouled at the end of a game when the Bulls were down 8 or something with just a few seconds left.

They were going at it. I love it.

I also love how the refs sit there and watch Steve Francis carry the ball roughly 35 times and then call a foul on El-Amin.

This was fun especially all the junk he was talking.

You can see why the NBA wanted to get away from this style of play though. Looks great when it works but when guys just pound the rock for 15 seconds on an iso over and over it can get pretty boring.
