That's he first good argument against him in this thread, DPOY winners are usually dominated by taller players which would pretty much disqualify Dort. The shortest recent winner would be Draymond Green who won it at 6'6" 230 LBS. Gary Payton would be Dort's path to it

Before this thread, if I was asked if Lugentz Dort is the

a) name of an NBA player, or
b) botanical name for a type of thistle

I would’ve got it wrong.

he's fouling a lot. maybe that settles down. maybe not. he doesn't have the size of any of the previous dpoy-type wing defenders, either. i recall devin booker giving him some problems because of his height. he was drawing offensive fouls at a likely unsustainable rate prior to the season suspension, which had something to do with powering his rise on some metrics that use player tracking (RAPTOR, RPM).

"No, my son is also named Dort"

Harden destroyed Thyuille when I watch them play but he is good. He gambles a lot more than Dort.

Can there be a middle ground where a player is good at something without jumping to extreme levels of projecting?

Dort did a fantastic job on Harden - he's strong and quick enough to stay in front of James which is rare. Then he also is physical, but dyscyplined - he doesn't gamble which is a very good thing against Harden.

Such a shame that Paul has been playing like a garbage so far...

"Can Luguentz Dort be a really good NBA defender but not quite a future Defensive Player of the Year candidate" isn't as good of a thread topic.

I think his skills could get him there. I'm not sure if he'll have the popularity for it though.

Luguentz Dort played a very goood game and good on the rookie, lets not put any real expectation yet untill he can consistently do it, but at the same time it's an impressive game and hes shown a little bit tonight" 0

Followed by

"One of the most gifted scorers ever torched a rookie after having an off game, lets not put that all on Dort as it happens to the best players in the league, let alone a rookie"

He's got some work to do. This was a good article written by one of our regular GB posters.

They don’t give the DPOY to 6’4” guards anymore, so I’ll say no to the OP question. But he is going to carve out a long, Tony Allen type career for himself.

I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

This was my thought, if he can become sort of like Tony Allen, can't say as good, but who knows, and then solidifies a catch and shoot jumpshot, he can have a good career.
