Good for him, let's see if he maintains that energy throughout his prime years.

I'm critical of Dame in these other threads, but I love that mentality. The league would be all the better if all the top players thought that way.

Blazers stealing the hearts of every non-Laker fan. **** even I'll have a tough time rooting against him and watching him lose.

Which team approached him? I think he agreed/signed around Jun 30, 2019.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

This is why some people hate on Dame tbh...he's painted as a perfect NBA superstar in a lot of these threads.

While this might make him a Portland legend, he will be an NBA footnote.

Of course he wants to keep his own team. How else could he score 61 points in a game?

Dame seems like he would rather win zero rings than to go the easy route to win a ring.

With that said, I also wonder if it depends on which players would have been on that superteam, and whether he liked those guys or not. Maybe if it was players he really liked, would he join? I remember him tweeting something critical of LeBron in 2010 when LeBron announced going to Miami. I'm too lazy to find it but maybe if the opportunity was to join LeBron he maybe still doesn't like him?

EDIT: Nevermind, the tweet was during the 2011 Finals, and Dame was rooting for LeBron. The tweet was just him being critical of LeBron's lack of aggressiveness in the series.

LeBron has never been shy about wanting to play with Lillard, so I wouldn't put it past him to more formally recruit Lillard.

Dame is a competitor. I appreciate his Kobe like approach to the game.

He got the Supermax in Portland. That certainly should have made the decision easier.

Well first of all he was in contract until the 2021 offseason before he signed his last extension. Secondly its hard to turn down 55 million for a year at age 35.

I don't know what you are reading, but ever since Dame was drafted he has been continually bagged and doubted by a very vocal population of basketball fans. To say the consensus is that he is "a perfect NBA superstar" is a very different reality than what I have witnessed.

Heck even as a Blazer fan I doubted him at first, but he won me over and then some.

I’m talking about this forum - he’s idolized more than any other player bc he’s painted as some amazing dude. Not saying he’s not

Ehhh... The vast majority of players end up as footnotes... No shame. Even Kyrie's shot will fade into a footnote in Lebrons legacy as time rolls on.

People like to act as if not winning a title means you'll be forgotten, or winning a title as a 2nd/3rd option/best player all of the sudden immortalizes you and everyone will remember you as something more because of it. Twenty years from now Lillard will likely be remembered as an Iverson type player while guys like Klay and Irving are remembered as Joe Dumars.... They're all footnotes that no one really cares about. If you're not in the conversation for top 15 player of all time, you're treated as an NBA footnote nationwide.
