What Do You Expect From Dallas Against LAC?

Can they win a couple, can they play tough, will Luka and KP be great even in losing, or is this just a horrible match-up for them, they will get smoked, and both Luka/KP will struggle?

Not a heckuva lot. That's probably the worst matchup for them.

I expect Carlisle will put KP in advantages to be successful down low. It should also serve as a blueprint for Vogel to utilize some of the advantages that may present themselves for their probable WCF matchup.

In regards to the actual series it should be a short one and possible sweep. The guys PG and Kawhi will make the series miserable for Luka but ultimately give him the lessons to be successful in the future. First playoff experience against an championship-level squad is going to be invaluable for that young roster.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Clippers sweep.

Would be surprised if Dallas won two games.

Its strange but Doncic's TS% is average against the Clippers and slightly below average against the Lakers. Denver though has really given him a hard time this year with a .486 TS%.

I am not saying its better to draw the Lakers or Clippers over Denver; but Doncic does seem to have struggled more against Denver based on this seasons splits.

I do think the Clippers are a tough match up because of Leonard, George, and Beverly's solid defense.

Clippers haven't shown much resolve this season. Will be interesting to see what they look like now in playoffs.

But the Nuggets as a team struggled against Dallas. It´s really difficult for Jokic to defend against a 5-out offense with good shooting.Nuggets also don´t have as many top perimeter defenders.
Mavs won the 1st game. 109-106. Limiting Jokic to 10pts.
Lost the 2nd game 106-107. Choked after leading in the clutch. Did not score in the last 2 minutes. Jokic scored 33. Including the game winning layup with 6s left on the clock.
Mavs won the 3rd game 113-97. Last game before the corona break. Players were informed during the game. Probably not the most competitive game. Jokic had 14pts but was completly outmatched against Boban who scored a career high 31pts/17rebs.

Overall the Nuggets are clearly the easier matchup. In the games against the Clippers it never felt like the Mavs had a chance.
A week ago Doncic and KP actually outplayed Kawhi and PG but it still wasn´t enough. Zubac went 10/10 from the field for 21pts and Morris added 16. Lou Williams wasn´t even his usual self and Harrell was still missing. Just to much fire power.

All the games look close but the Mavs can't close because they don't play playoff D.
Luka looks OK, KP looks bad

Clippers in 6. The Clips will put Beverley on Doncic, but they have no answer for the unicorn. Plus Carlisle is a better in-game coach than Rivers.

I really feel like the Mavs could have beat the Nuggets, but the Clippers are a horrible matchup for them. They have Kawhi and PG13 to throw at Doncic and the Mavs don't have great defenders to throw at Kawhi/PG13.

I'm not as bullish as most seem to be. It sounds like Beverly and Shamet might each miss the start of the first round. Jackson doesn't fit well with the starters and I worry about Doc overplaying him and Lou which really undermines our defense.

It's a pretty compelling series as far as 2-7 series go, but also just as lopsided as most 2-7 series.

Luka, Rick and shooters give Dallas a puncher's chance to steal a game or two. And I expect that shooting to steal at least one game. But Dallas just can't defend Kawhi so any games still competitive in the 4th are going to be extremely difficult.

Clippers in somewhere between 4-6 games with 5 my prediction based on Dallas having enough shooters to just go off one night.

But its great experience for Luka, KP, DFS, Maxi. And Dallas makes pretty much every game entertaining even in losses.
