The only players they could get in theory would be CP3 (but Presti already owns all their picks) or John Wall (and do you really want to go down that road, like honestly).

This is something I've felt the team has missed the entire year. They have roughly 115M in commitments for the next season, with their notable free agents being Marcus Morris and Montrezl Harrell. I genuinely have no idea what these two will command given the uncertainty with the current climate. Morris was making 15M this year, with Harrell making another 6M.

I'm assuming Harrell will command significantly more than that having won Sixth Man of the Year. Let's say Harrell resigns with the Clippers for an average of 12M per year, and Morris returns for the same 15M per year (non-Bird rights) he was making this year.

Your assets at this point include a 33 year old Lou Williams, Patrick Beverly at 13M with an additional year at 14M, Marcus Morris at 15M, Montrezl Harrell at 12M, Ivica Zubac, and Landry Shamet. I could be biased, but I only see one of those as really being an asset (Zubac). Morris and Harrell might be assets depending on how their deals are structured, but I feel that's unlikely.

I guess if I were to summarize. . . I don't really see how they're able to upgrade this roster.

Good observations bro.

I believe even an above avarage guard who can shoot&play p&R and off to ball consistently would do wonder to that toxic offensive scheme. Spencer Dinwiddie would be my top choice but not sure Nets would be interested on any of Harrell-Beverley-Lou. More realistically Tomas Satoransky would be my target from Chicago. Sato also has huge body that bothers lot of wings on opposing teams.

I can't see us making a big move for those "big names" mentioned in this thread.

Lmao. They won’t trade PG. he cost them their entire future. If Kawhi wasn’t so oblivious, he could of used the roster plus Shai and all those picks they traded to create a true super team. Instead, he forced the clippers to trade nearly all their assets for one guy.

Let’s imagine the clippers didn’t lose anybody, and only added Kawhi in the 2019 offseason. That team would of also made it to the second round, and if Kawhi got bounced (like he just did), he would have a lot more tools to trade for a huge upgrade.

And that’s why you don’t let players pretend they’re GMs

They'll have plenty of options there, Kevin Love, Blake Griffin, Al Horford, Tobias Harris, Lamarcus Aldridge, Demar Derozan, Andre Drummond, Andrew Wiggins are all highly paid players on long term contracts with unhappy teams. If they aren't already over the tax, they can also engage Cleveland on a sign and trade for Tristan Thompson.

Just about every starting PG in the NBA would be an upgrade over Beverley. Should probably start there

They have no picks, and arguably only two attractive young players

Zubac
Shamet

Green is a useful rotation big as well for another contender but doesn't have much value for a tank team

They have some matching salaries as well and (I believe) could sign and trade Morris? or no?

I know his contract is next to impossible for the Clips to trade for...

But what kind of players/contracts can the clips take on?

if they could somehow get paul in a trade then swap george for SGA, Gallo and pics theyd look nice.

How much is Harrell going to get? He's going to get paid huge, then what...the light is dimming on this run.

It doesn't matter what further roster moves the Clippers make if Kawhi and PG are going to shoot 0-fer in the 4th quarter of a Game 7.

They need a few playmakers and a rim protector and they should be good to go. They dont need five 20 ppg scorers that don’t facilitate

They should sign and trade Harrell with Williams for another star. Shamet might have to be included. Chris Paul should be an obvious target. Lowry would be a perfect fit. Westbrook might not actually make them better.

That's why players should not do the GM's job (in 99% of the cases).

Clippers should not trade for another star, but for more basketball IQ.
They have the talent, what they don't have is the chemistry.

tsirigoj wrote:Who should they go after? Kawhi and PG13 need ball in their hands.

Only player I can think of is CP3, but even then, there's only so much ball that can go around.

Frankly, they need a better rim protector and a better PG than Beverley. Perhaps a knock down 3 pt shooter to contend with GSW.

The perfect PG for the Clippers would be a guys like Rubio, Paul, Lowry, Smart etc...guys that don't need to take that many shots and do all the little things on the court to help teams win.
