Asterisk championship.

just like the 2019 finals

2019 was definitely an asterisk when the best team loses all their best players. And you just back into a title you otherwise had no other chance of winning without those injuries.

Yeah, but that game was the worst reffed game in basketball's entire history, remember? The 02 Kings fans need to stop whining and give the Nuggs that mantle.

I didn't say this after game 1 Vs Nuggets but it seems like Lakers are on a whole another level above Heat.
Dragic before getting injured looked unplayable because of his defense. When your best scorer looks that bad on defense you are in deep trouble. It is not like Dragic was scoring well either.

How did Celtics with good offensive weapons lose to this Heat team?

like I said during the Denver series, this Lakers team reminds me of the 2001 team.

Dominant.

everyone knew their role. Opposing teams (Blazers, Spurs, Kings & Sixers) never had a chance.

F***... Disappointed...
Dragic, Bam and Jimmy... Talk about bad luck...
Hope we still make it a fight though. Spo was also very poor today. There was no plan whatsoever to make life uncomfortable for the Lakers.

Hopefully we make it a fight in the next game and this series..

So this image from the broadcast is straight up bull, right? From what I have read, AD was was 6'8" when the 09-10 season started and 6'10" when it ended/the 10-11 season started. Seems like they are mixing up the facts to create a better story.

Bam strained his feelings and Jimmy had to take a two minute timeout break to tighten his laces after the most minor sprained ankle in history.

I don't even think the injuries were the problem (although brutal for the rest of the series), but the defensive intensity was about zero. When Spo went to the zone it took all of one pass to break it. Nobody was flying around like methheads after a fix like they were in the Boston series. That's the main thing that has to change to make it a series.

No team has really attacked AD with aggressive double teams and it is a minor weakness of ADs.

The problem is that if you want to double AD effectively you need Bam to be one of the players doing the double. (As the Heat has no other big capable to defend)

Then you have a Lebron led team go 4 vs 3 - where the 3 doesn't have a rim protector. There's a reason why Spo didn't choose this: that's suicide.

The best strategy for Heat is high intensity zone defense and hope shots are not falling for Green/KCP/Kuz and Morris. On offense small ball would be the best weapon, but you cannot effectively do it w/ Bam in the lineup... (Even the Rockets wasn't able to solve this entirely w/ 5 capable shooters)

Matchupwise this Lakers is bad for the Heat. They need to compensate it w/ toughness, effort and concentration. Jimmy is impersonating all of this, but it will be hard...

Good post. I initially had LA in 4 due to their size, but after watching the first few minutes when they went up 13 i thought it might end up being a Heat title. Then the Lakers went on a run and it looked like it could be a fantastic series. Then the injuries happened and now it really could look like a sweep, which is too damn bad.

I really hope Dragic and Bam are able to play. Not too worried about Jimmy, though. He's wired like Kobe and could step on a **** landmine and still suit up the next day.

Heat should forget about planning or adjusting or anything of that sort. Throw in the best shooters and let them shoot 3s from 30 ft on every single possession. If they get hot or lucky they'll win. Trying to match the Lakers in normal fashion is impossible for Davis is the best player in the league right now and cant be denied. And then you've got the best role player in the league, Lebron. Its just too much. Make in an artillery war and hope for the best.

The Lakers look like they’re in a different league. Even with their 3’s falling they still bullied Miami in the paint. I don’t expect a blowout every game but damn.

It was a close game when Dragic got hurt.

Though the real issue was Bam. He was playing well and we were winning when he picked up his 2nd foul in the 1st quarter. He was tentative after that and it went down hill. And then he got hurt....

Without Dragic though... we’re toast unless that flash we saw from Nunn was real and he’s ready to return to his pre-bubble self.

Nunn taking over Dragic duties is a hail mary at this point.

I personally don't trust him and I think when LA watches the tape they are going to eat him alive.
