To be honest coaches like Kerr say a lot of stuff and know how to work the media, I don't put a ton of stock into anything he says while still discussing players that are actively playing and while Kerr is still actively coaching.

He's objectively worse overall. Better at some things (mostly mental), worse at others (mostly physical).

Loss of physical strength

Improvement of mental strength

I can see it

His athletic decline is way more than the mental gain.

He still gets his stats but you don't see him dominate the game from start to finish like he used to. The decline in his stamina is quite obvious this year. He is probably 75-80% of the player he was during his prime.

I think he’s gotten mentally tougher. He’s had to take a lot of tough losses over the years. I think he’s pretty resilient especially for being 35.

Yet he is still clearly the best player in the league, and second in MVP voting

It's not that crazy, his peak is in the conversation for GOAT. I wouldn't say he's 80%, probably more like 90%, but I do think 2013 Lebron was superior.

I've said the same thing.

LeBron is a lot more experienced and smarter while being physically capable of prime play.

It’s a tough debate. I think he’s leaps and bounds ahead of where he was mentally back in 2012. He was a much, much better athlete back then and his motor was better. 2018 LeBron is probably my favorite LeBron though.

He's obviously not way better, Miami LeBron was already playing at a GOAT level.

Already making excuses for when Lebron beats him next year

This.

LeBron was a far better player in every aspect, with the exception of a slight mental edge, in Miami. Miami was GOAT level LeBron.

Less reliant on physically overpowering teams which highlights his skills more.

LeBron's more skilled and has a complete mental mastery of the game today. No way would a meme tactic like the defense Pop played on him in '13 work today.
