Rudy Gobert shares post on the mistreatment of Uyghurs on Instagram

He shared this on his story today

Guess calling out genocide is the type of social justice that many of our beloved NBA icons (with the exception of Mr. Gobert) would rather wisely not promote. Unlike our beloved GOAT-candidate Lebron James, Rudy Gobert seems sadly ignorant of the spiritual damage that could be incurred by his comments.

One can only hope that Adam Silver can guide him out of his ignorance on behalf of the numerous copies of Mr. Benjamin Franklin's likeness which could possibly be at stake.

Honestly, I'm confused as to what side of the argument you're on.

Why does everything have to be polarizing, can't it just be general satire of both?

He's probably on the genocide is bad side tho.

Ding ding ding.
C'mon guys. Not complicated. General sincerity aside, Lebron and co. knows who buys the sneakers and where they're made. Should be obvious who he stands up for and won't stand up to.

Holocaust 2.0. Nice post by Gobert, it's cool to see these young athletes using their platform to shed light on problems going on around the world. Especially with the financial consequences that could come from being outspoken (Qing james is the perfect example)

The awfulness of China is more than enough to vote for Trump. He's the only American politician willing to stand up to them, which is why the Chinese propaganda machine wants a Biden victory.

I'm guessing Lebron and co wouldn't hesitate to turn a blind eye to this. Respect to Gobert for trying to raise awareness

A slave freeing himself and then his grandson becomes a willing business partner of a genocidal slave owner from across the pond. The irony.

Except the ethnic cleansing of the Uyghurs is the one issue that Trump doesn't have with China, and was even quoted as directly telling Xi the Uyghur camps were "exactly the right thing to do".

Good on Gobert for spreading awareness.

Lmao China is literally more powerful and aggressive than they have ever been. Trump hasn't done **** to China except give the entire nation something to galvanize towards. Weakening every institution that makes America powerful is not conducive to stopping em. He's literally hot-air.

Ultimatelly our economies are too intertwined for either candidates to seriously try to "stop china" but trump perfectly plays into their hands, by eroding our alliances and relationship with European countries and elsewhere and preventing the worldwide cooperation necessary to be able to meaningfully oppose china. Trump calling corona the "china virus" or whatever isn't going to harm the CCP, it merely plays into their propaganda of being a defender against a racist imperialist United States. Trump has no power or ability to suddenly stop the awfulness of china without starting a nuclear war, he really only tries to accelerate the cultural conflict and xenophobia to serve his own needs. Also our democracy collapsing might not give us the best moral high ground from which to judge china.

Definetly cool to hear gobert speak up on this though

If we can call out police brutality we should keep this energy for genocide

Love Gobert for doing this. Wish more of these players would speak out about stuff like this.

Beijing Bron sure as hell won't be happy since he values profit over people just like his overlords at Nike. In a way when you think about it, he's become what he claims to hate. The one thing people should realize is that it's not the brand/product that makes the individual, but the individual that makes the brand/product. With effective marketing, they have convinced people to spend money they don't have on crap they don't need and it's really sad that people have fell hook, line and sinker on this. It's truly disgusting what the CCP have been doing. They have CCP'ed the entire world and are snakes that can't be trusted.

If these so called virtue signalling companies gave a damn, they'd take their manufacturing and business out of China and take it elsewhere, but money above all has sadly been the mantra for the last 40 years since Reagan was around.

I can't say I agree with this but this is definitely a view I haven't considered.

Completely not true. Liar John Bolton claimed that. Trump never said that. Orange man bad, right?

Trump even signed legislation calling for sanctions on China because of the treatment of the China’s Uighurs

Trump has been decoupling our economy from China for a few years now. The fake news won't talk about it. He has done many things including tariffs on China, eliminating the NAFTA loop hole in which China would send exports to Mexico and Canada and then they would assemble and ship it into the US in order to by pass US duties. The USMCA killed that loop hole and it also increased the percentage of North American made parts required to 75% in order to qualify for duty free status. That is just a tiny percent of the actions he has taken. He has done many more things including signing an executive order yesterday to expedite the restart of our domestic rare earth mineral (and other mineral) industries here in the US. China controls most of the rare earth minerals industry. You won't hear it from the media though. He has also signed various other trade deals with the other Asian countries in order to prepare for the decoupling of China.

Anyways good on Gobert. Beijing Bron must be pissed.
