Michael Jordan without question. During when he won his first 3-peat, MJ was an absolute monster!
Regular season Stats (1991-1993):
- 31.4/6.4/5.7 with 2.6 steals and 0.9 blocks
- .517/.324/.840 shooting(58.2 TS%) on 23.6/1.8/7.6 attempts
- Games Played/Games: 240/246 with 38.3 MPG
Playoffs Stats (1991-1993):
- 33.7/6.4/6.6 with 2.1 steals and 1 blocks
- .497/.387/.836 shooting(57.2 TS%) on 25.6/2.4/8.7 attempts
- 58 Games with 41.2 MPG
Accolades:
- 3X NBA Champion
- 3X FMVP
- 2X MVP
- 3X All-NBA First Team
- 3X All- Defense First Team
- 3X Scoring Champion
- 1X Steals Leader
- 3X VORP Leader
- 3X Offensive +/- Leader
- 3X Box +/- Leader
- 3X Win Shares Leader
- 3X Offensive Win Shares Leader
- 3X PER Leader
- 3X Field Goal Leader
I think that this was the most dominant stretch of his career. His numbers may have been better earlier but he wasn’t dominating the game and winning the way he did between 1991-1993.
A lot of people were surprised to find out that Magic, Larry, etc had called him the GOAT by his 1993 retirement. After looking at his 3 year run it becomes pretty understandable. This was truly Michael Jordan’s Peak and it was insane

Oddly none of the other threads have had polls, cool to actually quantify what people think around here. Also, would love to know who people picking "other" think is the GOAT. Maybe all of the Jordan/LeBron talk can be kept to this thread.

Please, if I have to see the Jordan quit in 98 thread pop up one more time I am going to explode. If you think LBJ is GOAT then do it, but holy **** stop trying to tear down Jordan in order to make sense of your own opinion. Just disrespectful af.

*260 playoff games.
lebron has now been the clear-cut best player in the finals 8 times and is still the best in the world in his 17th/18th season, east... west... don't matter, lebron is a one man dynasty.

Whoever you think it is personally. I think we're all a little tired of the topic.

VERY intriguing question, one I haven't seen given much discussion in the basketball realm. I don't even know what GOAT stands for tbh

Perhaps I am mistaken, but weren't you a die-hard MJ fan? What changed?

He's a confused KD admirer

Y'all acting cute, but a poll is a better representation of the GB's opinion than an endless circle jerk.

I voted MJ
Arguments for Jordan off the top of my head.
1. Higher peak -- I suppose this could be argued to some extent, but I don't see how it's not MJ. You can probably find some advanced metrics that favor Lebron, but if you account for Era played in and the fact that players in NBA past have very little knowledge about how to play the game in the most efficient way, I think the edge goes to Jordan.
2. More rings in less seasons. It's not the only thing that matters, but it is the most important.
3. More MVP's in less seasons.
4. Defensive player of the year/better defender
5. Best player on an All-time great team.
6. Dominated in a big men era. (90's)
7. Faced tougher competition in his conference (Bron faced tougher in the Finals)
8. 9 or 10 time scoring Champ - Which is the most important attribute in the game.
9. There have been 3 3-peats in the last 54 years in the NBA. Jordan has two of them.
Arguments for Lebron
1. Greater longevity, and one could argue that the difference between LBJ's longevity and MJ's longevity is greater than the difference between their peaks.
2. Better bulk stats -- kinda goes along with longevity
3. Beat a team in the 16' Warriors better than any team MJ beat (although that team is a bit overrated in terms of their playoff performance)
4. Better floor raiser. You set him with a bunch of scrubs and he can take them further than anyone in history.
5. Better playmaker - his assist numbers trump Jordan's.
6. Accomplished what he did without an all time great coach. Spo may go down as one eventually.
I tried my best to express what these guys have accomplished rather than knock them for their failures, which is often what these conversations devolve into.

This is one of the most tiresome and thoroughly dumb 'debates' on this board. Unfortunately, it also spills over and ruins other discussions as well.
