Is Montrezl Harrell overrated?

Post#1 » by Wreckus13 » Wed Oct 21, 2020 2:56 am

He does put up good numbers, good energy big off the bench. His defense leaves a lot to be desired and his playmaking is mediocre at best. But he is about to get paid a lot of money this offseason, is the team that gives him his next deal going to regret it? In my opinion it is never worth is to pay a undersized center who can't shoot threes.

If you need someone who's good at being loud and hanging on the rim, he's your guy.

Harrell is a better version of Kenneth Faried... gets a lot of his value off of scrappy, grinding, dirty-work... Plays better defense than Faried.

Honestly he's on my full-mle list for Portland, but I think he'll get more than that from someone.

Who's going to pay him a lot of money? No one, I'd guess.

Yes.

In the way Doc Rivers used him so he might have a breakout year for his next team.

He will get paid.
The contract will overpay him.
That team will regret it.

However, he will get paid.

I think he'll get something a bit better than MLE Money... 3/36? Something of that nature... If someone gives him 16-20/year they will likely regret it.

I've always compared him to Montrezl and agree with you. While I do think he's overrated, I sure hope he doesn't fall off as fast as Faried did.

No. He's actually underrated by the sheer amount of people that only just watched him closely for the first time in that awful playoff

Yeah I don't think people should view "Overrated" as "Bad" He's a valuable, efficient player who as your 4th option / energy & defense guy is good fit. If you pay him like a 2nd option, you are going to regret it.

I don't think he's the best bench player in the league, but he won 6th man of the year... so I guess I think he's overrated.

I'd take him on my team as a 15-20 minute a game tempo changer off the bench. Anything over 14 million per year is an overpay.

He's about to become the new Tobias Harris. Overrated ex-Clipper with a 9 figure contract.

This.

He kind of brought it on himself but saying the only reason Harrell played terrible in the bubble is because he is a below average players is disingenuous.

He's awful. He needs to learn to shut up and keep his ego in check. The Clippers are better off without him and every title contender would be worse with him. I don't see how much value there is in an undersized big man that can't rebound, plays no defense, and has a major ego/attitude problem to boot.

I hear Clippersfan98’s footsteps...

No.

I've never seen someone flex as hard as him after an uncontested dunk. Especially when the play before he was crying about something.

I was going into this thread thinking exactly what you put. I honestly am not sure how he is a thing in todays NBA. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense considering Faried is completely out of the league.
