I was looking at Sixers contracts and jeezus I had no
Idea they gave Tobias Harris a 5 year deal

Hes getting paid 39 Million in the 2023-24 Season lmao

That Al Horford contract is pretty scary too

26 Million at age 36 in the 2022-23 Year season

So seems like they would have to attach Joel or Ben to get rid of atleast one of those contracts but I have no idea who will be interested. Only team That comes to mind is The Hawks

Thats actually very realistic. Some sort of trade involving Collins, Reddish, capella, picks, and maybe even heuter, for embiid, and harris. Philly would then have assets to attach to horford or capella depending who they want to keep. The pressure to condend would then be gone with horford embiid and harris gone, and they could build a condender the right way.

The hawks could potentially throw out
Trae
Maybe Okoro
Hunter
Harris
Embiid

They need some kind of lowdown defender at a guard spot, but that team would be very competitive in 2022 when they can fill the bench out. The hawks can do a lot in terms of taking on Salary, and I think teams like philly may be looking to shed salary since they probably cant win a title next season.

He could have already conspired with Fertitta to let him go with a promise to trade him say Simmons/Horford/1st for Harden/Covington/filler to help Houston get started on a rebuild. Dude is in love with Harden I could easily see this. The only way for Houston to compete is to go into the tax, and Fertitta aint bout dat life.

That's a lot of conspiring, considering he would also have had to know he would be going to Philly and would have the power to make that move. That said, I'm not 100% sure it didn't happen. And I definitely wouldn't rule out a big Houston-Philly deal.

I'm curious how likely a Kings/Sixers move is now. Monte is Sacramento, and Morey in Philly. I'm sure the 2 are going to play friendly.

Yes, that would be part of it. I'm going full tilt tinfoil hat with this one. With all the confusion about deadlines and dates right now I think everyone is colluding out of necessity.

Eh. Certainly, I've heard that several teams have already made offers to free agents. Beyond that, I have no idea.

Morey also has ties to Minnesota's GM and Houston's Rafael Stone... and at least one more team, I'm pretty sure. Hinkie's gone, of course, but he was another. Morey has been the Popovich of GM's, in terms of having a tree of proteges spread throughout the league.

I've looked at this a decent amount, and the conclusion I've come to is that it isn't worth it for them to trade Harris. They'd have to sacrifice too much value for it to be worth it for a team trying to win now.

Horford, on the the other hand, has to go--not only because, yeesh, they've got to get rid of one of them, but that would allow Harris to move to PF where he'll be more effective, and his contract will be...slightly less horrifying.

Horford is the obvious albatross. He can only play the same position as their 3 best players in Embiid,Simmons,Harris. They wont get jack for Harris so they really need to move either Embiid or Simmons for the sake of roster construct. If it's Simmons you move ideally you try to attach Horford to the deal.

The Knicks should take on Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris.

I would think Moreys first move is what to do with Horford - call in a favor to a buddy / attach the necessary assets and nothing more (take note Elton) or, whatever the case is. As someone said once Horford is gone you can slide Tobias in at the 4 and you're suddenly back to looking a little more respectable without as strong a need to make a move and shake things up with no leverage.

At that time, is where the blockbuster deal happens (Embiid for Harden / Simmons for 1st OVR pick), if it were to.

Sure he'll try to move Horford (and Harris too), but that's just nibbling around the edges. The fundamental issue is that Embiid is a half court player and Simmons is an up tempo, open court player, and one of them has to go, depending on what style Morey and Rivers want the team to play.

Ben Simmons and Horford for Harden. I think Harden would be a better fit for Embiid.

It would take a few years to undo all the bad that Brand did last offseason. Morey would be immortalized if he's able to clear those contracts without having to give up any significant draft capital

Will say that one of Ben or Embiid is for sure gone
