Early, early Clippers poll

Post#1 » by LakersSoul » Sat Oct 31, 2020 6:53 pm

I know it’s early but assuming small tweaks here and there. How far will Clippers go this upcoming season?

If they fail to win or get to the Championship game, will the duo resign or not? Will Clippers management break it all up if they fail this year?

Not Yo Ham Lakers!

Clippers have the most pressure to win next season, bar none. Imagine if PG or Kawhi leaves due to those ramifications. This board would explode.

I think a Finals lost would be "ok" for the Clippers. But I agree with the poster above me I believe they are under the most pressure to win a title than any other team at the time of me typing this.

Finals loss to a really good team (say Boston or Miami take big leaps) isn't the end of the world... but really they need a ring. They have so much at stake next year.

Second round exit, just like every other year.

Lakers are the favourites going into next season for me, so it is expected that they see them in the conf finals, it is overachieving imo if they overtake the Lakers. If they don't atleast go 6 games w the Lakers tho, that's another dissapointing season.

It's def not a success without a championship, this is a championship team. But it should be expected that they atleast go 6 games w the Lakers in the conf finals, anything less is a failure.

maybe i'm a prisoner of the moment but i think the clips are going to go through a major overhaul.

also, in order to do well they had to be set going into next season. not only are they NOT SET, but their best players are in their 10th season or older, kawhi 9, pg 10, williams 15. they, like the lakers and rockets, are at that stage when 1yr older means 1yr older, except the lakers won a ring and are intact.

in the meantime, gsw/por still has a core in their prime if healthy, and for the mavs, denv, and utah 1yr older means 1yr more mature

and given that this is the clips is a factor that MUST be considered. i think they missed the train

When you mortgage your future the way the Clippers did, anything less than a ring is a failure. Especially since Kawhi and PG can both leave after next year.

Was high on the Clippers even after their collapse. Higher than most on Montrez and don't think PG is so much of a detriment you can't win with him on the roster. However that Lue signing has me befuddled and ready to jump off the bandwagon, he's awful. Their ceiling didn't get any higher but their floor got a whole lot lower

Its championship or bust for them. Lets see how the offseason goes so we'll know how teams actually stack up going into the season.

I don't know how anyone can vote for anything but ring or bust.

For real. I thought they still had the most talent in the league and should just run it back. They still have a very decent chance at the title, but it worries me that they might lose Harrell for nothing cause they overreact to his poor showing in the playoffs (family death, came late, out of shape, unique circumstance). Hopefully, for them, cooler heads prevail and they give him that 15-20 mill/year he wants...him off the bench is one of the reasons theyre the most talented team in the league.

They need to seriously contend. I think if they're at least competitive in the WCF they have a good shot at keeping Kawhi which avoids the disaster scenario.

Can’t see how they are under more pressure than the Bucks when Giannis can just leave.

-At worse the clippers will likely retain one of Paul George or Kawhi Leonard that’s still one very good player either

-Both players are from the near by cities and expressed interest in staying home

-clippers don’t have a bunch of bad contracts to limit them

-still have some fairly young potential guys like Zubac and Shamet

-LA/Inglewood will always be attractive to free agents

-Great owner

-No longer a cancer of a coach that chocked a 3-1 lead 3x with 3 different rosters

Roster as is would be to simply improve and make it out of the 2nd. Minor upgrades and I think most will be touting them as should be champs, understandably.

Perhaps PG and Kawhi would leave, but unlikely- they both want to live in LA and strategically signed short contracts in order to sign max deals later. Of course if they flame out completely maybe they will leave- you never can tell but they both would likely prefer to stay.

In that situation of another flame out happening I can see the CP3 and Blake situation again. They hate each other and one demands the other is gone or wants to leave. The other has his ego want to prove he can win and signs a major deal like Blake did. Worse case I see is we are paying PG13 the max to be the guy and have to build around him
