John Stockton is a legit top 40 and some list have him inside Top 30.
Klay on the otherhand is not even considered one of the Top a lock in the Hall of Fame

Klay Thompson is just a 3&D role player, idk why he's compared to John Stockton.

People remember old John Stockton against the Bulls. Just a reminder of young John Stockton:

PG was a different position during his time but I still wish he was more aggressive with his offense. He was Steve Nash but with great defense. That extra offense would have gotten them a ring or two imo.

Both are/were very good defenders at their positions, Klay is the better three point shooter but Stockton was no slouch in that department. Stockton was the superior passer and driver of the basketball. Klay is a unique player, in the sense that he's a 3 and D player on steroids, one of the most explosive scorers of his generation and he does it without the ball for the most part.

I'll take the guy who won 3 championships.

John Stockton as "Robin" actually not only made his Batman better, but ran/made the whole team go as well. A Robin sharing the burden of leading the team.

Klay's a truer Robin, in that he's just flat not s good as his Batman, but he's a vastly inferior player to Stock and can have off/cold days/series while his team goes right on winning.

No way on earth Klay could run a team on his own that would be decent.

Stock on the other hand could lead pedestrian offenses to the playoffs and be pretty decent.

Stockton was great, but his lack of elite scoring ability held back the Jazz IMO.

Stockton is one of the best sidekicks in NBA history. He might be the best "Robin" in the real sense of what you think of a Batman and Robin duo. Most of the time when people bring this up, they really are talking about teams with two batmans. Kobe and Shaq were two batmans. Magic and Kareem were two batmans.

Klay wasn't as good as Stockton. Great shooter, but Stockton was the greatest assist men in NBA history. He not only elevated Malone, but he elevated an otherwise mediocre roster to great heights year in and year out.

Stockton is more comparable to Alfred imho. And I'm not claiming that in a bad way. Alfred was more important to Batman then Robin. He was the guy who was actually making Batman better, while Robin was just a sidekick who was able to take on lesser assignments and give Batman some breathing room. To bad for Utah that Karl Malone was never a worthy Batman, at least not in an universe where MJ and Hakeem existed.

Well Stockton was a great point guard back when the focus was to run the offense and Klay is a shooting guard that plays on both ends. It's comparing apples to oranges.

Klay Thompson is a number 3, he's not a number 2. Yes he can take a high volume of shots, but he's not initiating the offense or the focal point of it. He basically plays the role KCP plays on the Lakers, except he's obviously a much better shooter.

He was 3rd in Finals MVP at best in all of those. I'm pretty sure if you put Stockton in the 2015-2019 Warriors in Klay's place that he comes out with atleast 3 titles as well, maybe more.

I could only imagine Malone and Stockton in today's NBA. Stockton would definitely score well north of 20 in today's NBA as he was an elite 3pt shooter, and I'm sure he would of been encouraged to shoot a lot more now. Malone probably extends his game beyond the arc, and it probably wouldn't have been that hard for him, he was wet up 20ft out in the late 90s.

Is Stockton Robin? he is the one directing everyone and controlling the game.

Weird comparison. Voted for Stockton. During those days it always felt like Stockton was actually the leader and the main guy on those Jazz teams. To me anyway.

John Stockton was retired and 53 years old in 2015 and he was a traditional point guard that played in a different era....

Stockton was Batman.
