Report: Pelicans To Quickly ReSign Brandon Ingram

It’ll be a massive contract...

With all the uncertainty, what is decent value , and what is overpaying for this scoring threat? He’s better than Middleton already, no?

Edit: sorry I just thought people take my word at this point

Will Guillory: As far as Brandon Ingram goes, I heard basically throughout the entire year that it was just a matter of time before they gave him his big contract. I think they feel really good about his fit with this team and the growth he showed last year. As a shooter, as the guy who was willing to take on the responsibility of being that No. 1 scorer, the guy who has that kind of burden every night, I think they love his fit next to Zion. So I think he’s going to get a huge contract. And they’re going to take care of that really quickly. – via The Woj Pod

given his age and this past season performance, i think a max is more than fair and will always be tradeable. His max would similar to Murray and Simmons and both of those guys are highly coveted despite the contract.

He is young and getting better, I think he will get and be worth his eligible max contract.

I don't really see a report here but no doubt he'll get a max. Super young, 6'9 lanky all star who is trending towards elite scoring with having made major improvements every single season

He took a leap forward this year and is only going to get better. This is a no brainer for the Pelicans.

Max is coming, don’t think the Pells have much choice. There’s a legit chance it ends up not so great (contract year, still wasn’t particularly great and no guarantees of continued progress), but you have to bet on a guy like that. Works for the Pells timeline and needs and food chance he turns into a real star, so a max is the play and can’t quibble over a couple dollars here and there.

Murray in the season before his extension - 18/5/4 on 46%
Ben Simmons - 17/8/9 on 58%
Ingram - 24/4/6 on 46%

Seems comparable at worst.

A max is expected and he deserves it.
Now, depending how he performs after receiving the max is questionable, but time will tell.

He’ll get close to the max

I mean this should be pretty obvious. They should hand the 5 year max waiting for him to sign once he's allowed to sign it.

24/6/4 on 58 TS% and a trip to the all star game in the West at just age 22.

That is pretty easily a max offer coming off your rookie deal.

pelicans lucked out with the cap remaining level, had the coronavirus hit next year, without the ~7-8% increase in cap YoY, pelicans might've been stuck paying ingram the cap equivalent of a rose-max contract

Meh. This is just Griffin saying to teams like the Knicks and Hawks: don't even bother to tender an offer sheet.

I'm sure the report is credible because its common sense, but can we at least post the link?

I think he should get MAX, they don't have a choice or face the possibility of losing him. But this is some Trump I won the election type reporting

He looked unguardable one on one. He has all the tools and the god given abilities to live up to his Kevin Durant like comparison IMO. If he gets better defensively, I think the Pelicans become really good, really fast.

I agree with everything your saying but this is a prime example of why you FG% as an alone shooting stat should go away. TS% or slashes are way better indicator here.
