The PGA was crazy to go head-to-head with NFL Sunday.

That's true, but unless I'm mistaken it's usually not head-to-head with the NFL. I know the Masters specifically is usually in April, it's just a totally different environment to run it in November right as the NFL playoff race is heating up. Fox was probably thrilled to snap up the viewership from all those AFC markets that usually watch CBS Sunday afternoon.
