Re: Like I Said, This New Knicks Regime Got It Right
I actually really like the Toppin/Robinson pairing if one big thing happens for each of them. Mitchell Robinson learns not to foul. And Toppin at least becomes a high effort defender. Because in terms of playing at a fast pace, those two are perfect for a fast paced team like Steve Nash’s Suns based on their upside. An end to end PF who can clearly finish in transition or hit transition 3s. And an end to end C who runs the floor extremely well to finish inside and can protect the paint. If both of them show/have some ability to do that on the defensive ind, which Thibs has partially shown he can coach with players that buy into it, then this could be a really good front court pairing if they can generate steals and blocks and increase transition opportunities.
That also depends on Thibs speeding up the offense and encouraging running the floor a bit more. But Toppin and Robinson could be a a high end pairing offensively in the froncourt if Thibs can get the, to play defense. Robinson not fouling is the big thing. Toppin can put in effort, but if Robinson can defend without fouling, it kinda hinders Toppin in a big way

Ive asked that 3x but nobody has a answer. I assume at this point is because hes a red head
With a user name like yours you should know the valueof RED legends like Bonner and Scal.
This is the only red headed legend that I acknowledge.....who missed all of last year but will soon play his 1st NBA game...and Im not even sure if hes a red head.

Honestly, Toppin won't be bad now id he get get his defense up he will be a dam good player. Do I hate the pick no. I wanted haliburton or denny when they were available. I am so happy we couldnt get okoro. The dude is a 6'5 SF. Daniel Oturu is going to be a beast honestly not much of a difference I see between him and wiseman besides the amount of post moves and defense. Daniel Oturu has better defense and wiseman better post moves.

Who is that scrub? Is he even worthy to spit shine the New Balance of the red rocket?

Re: Like I Said, This New Knicks Regime Got It Right
I just want to express my thoughts on Obi real quick and why I'm not big on this pick.
Obviously the guy is talented and could easily be the best scorer of the draft straight off the bat. He might even win rookie of the year since we're going to suck and he'll put up numbers.
But PFs who don't play defense and can't create their own shot with the ball in their hands are a pretty poor player archetype for the league as it's played now.
Look at John Collins. The guy puts up 20/10 and still has fatal flaws that make many people question if he's part of a winning basketball team.
At his age, with his lateral speed, and his other deficiencies like lack of size, I think there's a real ceiling on who he can be in the league. And because of that, there's a ceiling on the who the Knicks can be if we expect him to be our 2nd or 3rd best player down the line.
There's a lot to like. I honestly think he'll score 20ppg this year if the Knicks play him 30 minutes a game. And Thibs did have the league's best defense with Carlos Boozer at the 4. And playing next to Mitch will make up for his defensive shortcomings.
I just would have mutch preferred we had taken an athletic guard or wing that could play defense and could hit a shot. It's so much easier to build around players like that.
And who's going to get Obi the ball in his spots next year? Frank? RJ? Are we going to overpay for Rajon Rondo or Fred Van Fleet?
IDK man. Leon Rose is a smart dude, so I guess I'll trust him. I just don't like taking slow big who can't play defense in the modern NBA, even if he's going to be a big time scorer.
I hope he turns out well. He loves NYC, and he seems like a great character guy. And he can definitely score with the best of them. As a Knicks fan though, I just think we could have made a smarter pick.
Please prove me wrong Obi.
