What's the deal with the Knicks bringing on so many CAA and Kentucky players... ?
...and are they overlooking better players because of it? Or is this narrative not exactly right?

They're not a relevant free agent destination so they're using the connects they have to land whoever they can.

As I said earlier
The CAA/Kentucky connections can work out well because we are bringing in people who respect the staff and front office.
Fizdale is a great first impression type of person which gains respect but once you realize he dont know what he doing, the players gave up on him. These players especially the Kentucky guys know what Kenny Payne is about and they will buy into Thibs because of that.
How can you actually respect Steve Mills or Dolan? Lol I think our players will have a different kind of respect for this f.o and coaching staff despite Dolan

This is a solid point, but what about talent? And the Knicks have to be better than organizations in the league, at some point, not just better than Knicks' personnel of the past.

Just look at what happened when LeBron & his camp took over the Los Angeles Lakers.
Once the Lakers had a foundation of young players, draft capital, cap flexibility, LeBron moved to Los Angeles and I believe it’s Klutch Sports that took over. They even got Magic Johnson out of there.
When former agents take over the helm, it’s setting up for success. Rose will bring respectability and interest to the Knicks. And once a true star wants to play for us, he will have the whole treasure chest to help and make that roster successful.

I get your point but having LeBron as your foundation is very different than having Leon Rose as your foundation.

Leon Rose ain't LeBron James.
I was surely comparing him more to Rob Pelinka. former agent of Kobe...
Agents are connected. I was posting more btw check my post again...^

Based on Thibs press conference. The focus is development and building around RJ which it should be. I know alot dont see it but we building something nice. If we can add one of these good prospects in 21 draft. (A pg preferably)We on to something

The Knicks need Jalen Suggs badly. They also need to get rid of all of their low IQ players like Randle, Smith, and Knox. If they can add Suggs I like their core of him, Barrett, Toppin, Mitchell, and Ntilikina going forward.

I mean I’m hoping you’re right, but one example doesn’t make a trend
Just because pelinka Was the GM that got lebron doesn’t mean that it was all done because of pelinka, lebron was going to la no matter who was in charge...pelinka did make moves to be able to sign him, so hopefully Rose makes smart moves to be able to sign a star that wants to come to nyc

The Knicks are grasping to stay relevant. Nobody wants to go there so their best draw is from their connections. Those are CAA and Kentucky.
They are not limiting themselves to CAA and Kentucky by choice.

This 100%
We dont need to star chase. We need to just continue building thru the draft. It would be nice to have home grown talent for once.

It’s not just cause they are both former player agents...
It’s because the Knicks have young players, picks, and cap space. The same reason Bron went to LA or KD and Kyrie to Brooklyn. Once the Knicks on the court look SOMEWHAT competent, someone will want to come.

Focus on adding unselfish, high IQ players and keep building. And who knows in a few years a hometown guy like Towns might decide he wants to be a part of that. But unlike with Carmelo you hopefully won't jump the gun by trading for a star, but instead biding your time to sign one in free agency.

Yeah no rush. We and our fans need to get off this star chasing mentality. I honestly think RJ has star potential. If we can land a top 3 pick in this deep draft. Skies the limit.

They also have 2 from Duke, 2 from UNC, Michigan, NCSt, Nova. And of course Tobbin was the NCAA POY so he was high profile as well.
They seem to be loading up on big conference players while ignoring international players. Charlotte did this for years, with very poor results. The joke was that MJ only ever watched the NCAA tournament to do his scouting.
