Looking back at the 1986-87 Lakers, it is impressive to see how dominant they were.

They won 65 games, went 15-3 in the playoffs, and had the MVP in Magic and DOPY in Cooper.

The team as a whole was 1st in Off RTG, 7th in Def Rtg, 1st in SRS.

They had a starting lineup of Worthy, Kareem, Magic, Bryon Scott, A.C. Green with a bench of Michael Cooper, Mychal Thompson, and Kurt Rambis.

What a insane lineup in term of talent and depth.

Honestly, I consider this Lakers team to have been the best Lakers team ever above the 1971-72 Lakers.

It was very "spectacular" with KAJ, AC, Scott, Worthy, Cooper, Thompson against DEN 37wins SEA 39wins and GSW 42wins teams. Meanwhile BOS played two 7 games series in a row with two 50+ wins team in DET and MIL. No one from WC PO teams outplayed hier oponents from LAL starters.

He's still the #1 ambassador for this game.

Sad to think this generation of kids have no clue who he is and how he played and why he was so important to the NBA.

It’s such a shame how much more of Magic we missed due to the early retirement.

Yes, he had it with other greats like Divac, Haywood, McAdoo, Wilkes, Nixon against other mediocre WC teams. It could be the biggest gap in the longest period between one team and other conference teams in NBA history.

Yes, he had it with other greats like Divac, Haywood, McAdoo, Wilkes, Nixon against other mediocre WC teams. It could be the biggest gap in the longest period between one team and other conference teams in NBA history.

You're probably right, but Magic faced very tough competition in 1990 and 1991, he still played brilliantly and he didn't have stacked team at all by then,

Yes 90/91 were the most competetive years for Magic. Hakeem, Malone/Stockton, Drexler hited thier primes years and ''rookie" D-Rob was in place, but these all time greats didnt have better teams. Still Magic with prime Worthy/Scott/Green/young Divac/Perkins was on top. Maybe Drexler with Porter/Buck/Cliff/Kersey were on the same level.

Portland team was certainly better and more talented in 1991.

Magic/Worthy combo were better than Drexler/Porter. I dont know who would take Portland duo over Magic/Worthy. The rest are role players, Divac and Cliff both were sophomore, but Vlade with 2stl and 3blk against POR in WCF was way better player than Cliff. Scott/Perkins/ACGreen with their experience didnt give up to Kersey/Buck/Duckworth/Ainge. POR was TOP3 in DEF and OFF, LAL - TOP5 in RS, yes POR won RS, but teams like Magic LAL knew when to save energy and then to turn next gear.

Yes, Porter was better than Worthy, but it doesnt mean that POR was more stacked team. Drexler and Magic suporting casts were about equal.
