There was also Charlie Ward who I think won a heisman) played in the NBA for awhile. He didn't have enough talent to stick around, but I doubt it was for a lack of effort.

Charlie Ward did win a Heisman.

He also stuck around the NBA for 11 seasons... retiring at age 34.

Getting a consistent 20 mpg now and has apparently gotten the green light from Casey to shoot open threes. And he’s making them. Pretty solid defense and boards for a rook playing 20 minutes a game, too. Looking like a future starter.

Reminds me of a modern day Manimal with skill on offense. What was a head scratcher pick has turned out quite nicely for Detroit.

He hit a 3 against the Hornets (I didn't know he could shoot) and I about lost my bowels. Impressive talent

Ugh. I'm a big Edwards fan and I'm taking him 1st in a hypothetical redraft, but he should be below Haliburton, at least for the time being, and probably for one or two more seasons. And I still have Lamelo 1st, and when season ends I believe he should be 2nd behind Haliburton. Them two are basically the only great contributors to their teams winning this season, and it's probably gonna stay that way.

Charlie Ward also started 285 games and averaged over 22 minutes per game for his career. He was a solid rotation player, not a fringe guy.
Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Yesterday I was lying; today I'm telling the truth.

Seems like Charlie Ward has zilch to do with Anthony Edwards, or the concerns with him. People were perfectly right to have some concerns about Ant’s mentality and approach, he had a kind of spacey immature air to him that was hard to miss in any of his interviews. And he did indeed allude to not being that motivated about basketball several times in that article (although he said he got over that in the same article). That’s a red flag and, if he were playing terribly and quitting on games, everyone here would be harping on it and yelling ‘how did these feels draft him at #1 when he said he didn’t even like basketball?!?’

As with other draft things, no one can tell what’s real and what’s not, what’s going to be the final story on someone. We knew that he wasn’t for sure a hard worker and we knew that he was insanely athletic but had some BBIQ concerns, but that’s all we knew at draft time. The rest is up to unknown things within Ant and his future self. (Quick example is Ben Simmons, constantly knocked as uncompetitive and a lazy defender at draft time, ended up being a ferocious competitor once he was challenged.)

That newest NBA.COM ladder is pretty disrespectful to a consensus ROY that at this point has missed 2 games on the season

If he's eligible for the award LaMelo should definitely win it.

Haliburton looks a bit shorter than 6’5 to me. Interesting player to watch though. Everything about his game seems unconventional. From that shooting form to that hunched back. Free him and Fox from Luke and the Kings

2 man race between haliburton and edwards (b/c ball is out for the year and will miss half the season).

Don’t know if anyone watched the Spurs game and Haliburton running the pick and roll with Holmes. The kid carved up the Spurs. It will be interesting to see how he adapts to Pop’s adjustments as they play again Wednesday.

This is a few days late but it made me laugh when watching the game Sunday and I thought y'all might also enjoy it. LaMelo Ball is clearly itching to get back in the action:

Damn, 63 assists for a rookie is unheard of.
