Who do you think was a better "Robin": Kevin Durant or Anthony Davis?

Both KD (GSW) and AD (Lakers) were amazing & delivered great stats.
However, most people consider LeBron & Steph Curry were by far the most impactful player in their respective team.
Which is just an another way of say LeBron & Curry were de-facto the better player.
As the title says, who do you think was a better "Robin": KD (GSW) or AD (Lakers)?

Curry was not by far the more impactful player when you account for defense. I would still give the nod to Curry but by a slight edge.

Kevin Durant was never the Robin, Steph was.

If AD is "Robin" , then he's one on this team by design. Steph just falters a bit during playoffs so KD had to step into batman role.

According to like any advanced metric you want to look at Curry was the more impactful player. Durant is a better individual player, but he isolated a lot and dribbled a lot and took a lot of midrange jumpers. Kevin Durant doing his thing isnt inefficient or anything, it's a very effective way to score. But the Warriors offense with Curry spacing the floor and running off screens was on another level.

Davis is more perfectly built to be the Robin. Durant's main Robin-qualifier is being weak mentally.

Slight edge? Looking at impact stats, Curry was definitely more impactful player than KD in 3 seasons together.

How is someone considered more impactful to a team be considered a lot worse than someone who is only better on 1 on 1.
The last time I watched, basketball is a team sport.

By your reasoning, I guess Steph Curry was a "Robin" to Andre Iguodala who won 2015 Finals MVP.
Or Kevin Garnett being 2nd fiddle to Paul Pierce (an All-Star unlike Iggy) who won 2008 Finals MVP.
KHRICH wrote:KD was batman nice try.
Not really. Curry's impact stats tells otherwise.

Don't disagree with any of that. Durant is just so damn good at doing that so it's still a discussion. Especially when you account for his defense/shot blocking and rebounding.

Durant has never been a "Robin".
I don't think AD was a "Robin" last year either.

Real big impact your boy had in the Finals when it was his time to shine and every media outlet in the world said it would be a piece of cake for the Warriors. He had one great game that series, and it was in a loss.
Curry might make players around him better more than KD does, but you need both - floor raisers and iso scorers - and when KD was on the team his iso scoring took precedence and frankly, had they tried to fit him into a different role, they might have lost to LeBron in the Finals. Kevin Durant was the #1. Steph was the #2. It's just more like if LeBron had come to the Heat in 2008. Sure, Steph/Wade was the franchise leader and a top 5 player, but he wasn't the best player on the team and he wasn't the one taking the shot with the game on the line.

The title should then be who’s the most impactful: Bron or Curry? Using advanced metrics to say KD, who averaged 35/8/5/1/1.6 and 28/10/7/0.8/2.3 respectively was somehow a robin muddies up the conversation. doesn’t matter how much Currys played in helping KD get those numbers either cause if anything that says Curry was the robin if only advance metrics gives him any type of importance over KD in those series where he was clearly the second best player

Durant was voted the finals MVP unanimously in 2017 and got 7 out of the 11 votes in 2018. That's crazy to me considering Steph was on that team.

If you look at all the finals mvps those guys for the most part iso a lot and shoot midrange jumpers, even in todays era, and without durant the warriors blew a 3-1 lead against a team lead by two guys who play like that.
