So what? By the end of the season the team will know where it stands in terms of its pick based on records. It's not really a big deal. I mean saying 8 picks makes it seem larger than it is, but it's lacking important context.

I hate this trade for some many reasons...

1) Harden gets exactly what he wanted going to play with KD. Yes Houston trade him, but don't send him where he wants to go especially if this is the deal you're getting back. Simmons, Maxey, Thybulle and pick swaps alone is a much better deal imo.

2) The league was pretty balanced, everyone had 2 guys. Now this Big 3 crap that we've seen the last decade....its not fun anymore. League is a lot more fun without the super teams.

The Nets gave the Rockets 8 years worth of picks and swaps. The Nets aren't going to be a dominant team for the next 8 years. Later on some of those picks are going to be good.

That's generally the point in trades like this, if the team just takes picks in the immediate future, then they are trading a superstar for a good player and some low picks, which is not really a good trade. The further in future picks and swaps are the "hope" part of the trade.

All three of these dudes are going to be gone in few years, better win two chips, this will be epic fail.

Now Kyrie for Westbrook (and a bunch of picks, of course) and we'll be in full bizarro OKC in BKN world.

Picks 2021-2023 I agree with you, picks 2024-2027 though is a different issue as harden and KD will be around there mid 30s by then if they are still on the team.

what an earthquake deal that has altered the power balance of the nba in a way we have rarely seen. brooklyn nets are a powerhouse team now! who cares about kyrie - with or without him the Nets are coming out of the east.

giannis really blew it re-signing with milwaukee. he will end up like nash, malone and other greats who have never won a title (unlike malone i really have serious doubts he'll even ever make a finals)

Nets can obviously win, and they clearly have more talent, but i like the way Giannis and the Bucks matchup with them. Giannis has no excuse not be ridiculously dominant that series, and they are very strong 1-2-3 defensively

Even with Harden Bucks match up well offensively and are a way better defensive team. This team with Holiday at pg is a godsend over Bledsoe and is a way better shooting team over 20 3’s again tonite.
