He was the leader of the discussion before the season even started.

He was on fire. Luka, Hardaway, Porzingis, and Cauley-Stein all stepped up. They still need to add one more piece though

Luka's defense improved a lot this year.

To be fair that was his normal day numbers last year. He just hasn't been the same early this season.

Hence what I said in the OP.

Luka Doncic is BACK.

Gonna be all about record for Doncic. He'd be in the lead if they were a top 2-3 seed

His early struggles compensated with the improvement defensively. Nice to see.

I've been very impressed by his D. In the bubble I did predict that this season Luka was going to be an above average defender, but I wasn't expecting him to be this much better. Carlisle must feel he has hit the jackpot or something, because his main two stars are great both offensively and defensively and he doesn't seem to be hiding Luka on D at all - he has been defending opposing team's best players, which I would have never expected.

To the stats above I would add also that in last 3 games he had 8 steals and 7 blocks. But it's not just about numbers, he passes the eye test. He's a pest and I don't think opposing players like being defended by him, they can never relax.

What I liked about him today was that he looked much calmer and under control, he was an assassin on both ends on the floor and just looked like a veteran player with 10 years of experience. Numbers are secondary.

Luka's been great lately, but isn't there an annual MVP thread on the GB?

4 blocks tonight, has been playing very good defense recently. If he turns into a plus defender, he has a real argument for best player in the league. And he's 21 years old.

He still looks out of shape. Turns out being in shape is overrated.
