Randle is the MIP. I like both wood and grant but Randle has become a winning player. And that must count for something.

If a player makes this statistical leap in one year should he be considered for MIP?

19-20 - 19.9 pts on 52.8/31.4/81.7 shooting, 9.7 reb, 7 ast, 0.6 blk, 1.2 stl, 3.1 TO, 32 min
20-21 - 27.2 pts on 57/42.7/87.1 shooting, 11.1 reb, 8.6 ast, 0.6 blk, 1.6 stl, 3 TO, 35.8 min

And can a player win MIP and MVP the same year? I'm talking about Nikola Jokic

I don't know if a MVP candidate is eligible and I'm keep thinking Randle is the frontrunner for the MIP, but to me Jokic belongs in that conversation.

Also take a look at his advanced stats and attempts per game.
19/20: 52.8 FG% on 14.7 attempts; 56.5 eFG%; 60.5 TS%; 24.9 PER; 4.5 Net Rating
20/21: 57.0 FG% on 18.8 attempts; 60.5 eFG%; 65.0 TS%; 31.9 PER; 7.4 Net Rating.
And all his improvements come with a less than 3% increase in his usage rate: (19/20) 26.6; (20/21) 29.2

It's amazing how much his numbers improved.

I mentioned this in the recent Fox MIP thread that the true sign of a “leap” is a jump in usage that doesn’t coincide with a loss of efficiency or a rise in turnovers. Grant has gotten 50% more shots but his efficiency hasn’t improved and it hasn’t led to wins. That, to me, is putting up stats on a bad team...there are many guys who can average 20 if you give them close to 18 shots a game. A player like Randle or Fox have made strides and in Randles case, it has led to more wins while the Kings creep a bit closer to the .500 mark.

I know the numbers don’t necessarily reflect massive improvement, but Zion has taken a big leap this year.

But right now he is on track to become only the second player ever to shoot a legitimate 50%/50%/90% season to equal the great Steve Kerr.

Right now he is at 55%/50%/89% and a EFG% of 72%.

Very solid defender and is on a great team.

Would love to see Ingles win Sixth man and Ben Simmons win Defensive player of the year for Australian basketball.

Ingles has been SO good this year. We might have 2 of the 3 best bench players this season. He currently leads the league in eFG% and TS%! He's 2nd in NBA in 3pt% and 5th in 2pt%! He's got such a high basketball IQ, he's a great passer and good defender. He's probably more valuable to us than Clarkson for all the things he does, much of which doesn't make the boxscores.

MPJ has been on fire recently and is efficient as hell on a good team. If he finishes the season strong could be outsider for MIP.

Steph Curry almost won MIP in his second MVP season.
So while extremely unlikely, it's not impossible.

I can’t believe how short in odds Clarkson is.

He legitimately had one of the worst March months in the entire league.

Conversely, fresh in the mind of the voters id hope is Ingles who has been balling the last couple of months.

He has a never before heard of TS% in the 70%’s. Let alone doing that as a non big man.

Absolutely destroys Clarkson in all the advanced stats. It’s only the points that’s the difference favouring Clarkson.

In my opinion Ingles should be in front for the 6th man of the year races now.

I agree with this, however, 6MOY has normally been the bench player with the most PPG for a while now

That's the thing though, "worst March". His worst month probably is the norm for most . We're overlooking how consistent he was before the slump, and is now picking up the pace with his last two

How in the world do you think fox wins mip.

And so far Boucher has a lock on mil, so he would not be in six man conversations.

MIP I'd say the top 2 are Randle and Grant. I'd probably give Randle a slight nod because his improvement has resulted in a greater improvement of team success.

I'd put Wood 3rd, a tier behind those 2 since he missed such a large chunk of the season to injury. Brown is in the conversation as well, probably a toss up with Wood for 3rd place.

6th man I figure it's gotta be Clarkson. Hart has also been really good, but now he's on the injured list for awhile which should help create more separation for Clarkson..

Jalen Brunson should be in the 6th man conversation. He's playing great basketball lately. He's been the Mavs 2nd best player.
