The Current Nets remind me of the 1981-1982 Nuggets

The Nets this year after gaining Harden appear to have transformed into the 1981-1982 Nuggets in term of offensive output with no regard for defense.
The Nuggets that year had the highest scoring team in NBA History with a historically bad defense.
They scored at least 100 points in every game and allowed at least 100 points in every game.

Question is why aren't Konami remaking the NES metal gears?

On a side note, it is really amazing how many points some of these teams scored- mostly without the 3 point shot. It shows how fast the pace of play was.

Eh. I more acknowledge that principles like trapping with the five is disastrous than results.
They are a one center(who probably should be a backup) team. That’s not going to be case by the PS comes around.
What they believe to be their defensive gameplan is everything.

Damn, you are old enough to remember the 81 Nugs? Were they even on national tv back then?

Theyre basically a more talented 04 Mavericks who were the #1 offense and bottom 3 defense
Kyrie = souped up Finley
Harden = evolutionary Nash
Kd = Dirk meets Tmac

Awesome I bet:
Thompson
Green
Iguodala
Durant
Insane perimeter capability/versatility/godly length & switchabilty.

I like this comparison quite a bit actually. After that atrocity vs. the Wizards I was thinking back to that era myself, the 186(?) pt gamew by the Pistons back then etc. But yeah, the Nuggets had the trio of one-way stars (English, Issel and Vandeweghe) and even had David Thompson around asa 6th man.
Difference would be that a) its mildly insulting to compare former MVPs to those guys (except Kiki of course, who was better than any of these guys), and b) to some degree the Nuggets' extreme scoring seemed to be a product of the system whereas the current Nets in the "player allaboutme era" have all put up those numbers elsewhere in other systems, and now are just trying to combine them.

KD, Kyrie and Harden are the new Alex English, Kiki Vandeweghe, and David Thompson. It's a pretty apt comparison, those Nuggets players were three of the best scorers of their generation.
They don't have the MVP awards like Harden and KD, but they were going up against Bird, Magic, Moses, and Jordan. Still, I can see how they're a better version of that team.

I remember English and Kiki. Neither one was on the level of the 3 Nets stars. Their point totals were always inflated in comparison to every one else's because of their team's pace, and Coach Doug Moe's refusal to play any defense for an entire decade. The Nets three stars score because they can't be stopped.

Kyrie is a VERY VERY VERY richman's finley but it's a good comp

Well these are clearly better players, they aren't scoring as much on pace and ignoring defense, and that was an era where offensive rebounding lead to way too many fast breaks the other way.
But still...that's kind what this team is. A team that wants to beat teams on their offense with almost a complete disregard for defense.

Nets games are amazing to watch. They score so effortless on even elite defenses but any offense can score effortless against them. Sh*tty defense done right

Back then, the Nuggets took advantage of the altitude and tried to tire other teams out by running. That was their way of playing defense.

The comp is absolutely appropriate - great offense and bad defense. It doesn't mean it has to stay this way but that's what it is now
