Daryl Morey has a worse idea than playing on asphalt

His proposal :
Cap the amount of 3-pointers a team can take over the course of a game.
Over the first 42 minutes of the game, each team would have the chance to attempt 20 shots from beyond the arc that would count for three points. Once an offense runs out of those 20 attempts, it can keep shooting from behind the line, but each subsequent make would count for only two points -- until the 6:00 mark of the fourth quarter, when attempts would once again worth three points until the game is over. The 3-ball is still the most reliable and entertaining way for teams to mount comebacks at all levels of basketball, so it's smart to showcase them at the game's most dramatic moments.
At least the realgm poster that suggested players playing in the asphalt was trolling. GM morey gets paid for this type of analysis.

I can barely keep up with the play in tournament and Elam ending, so any more changes with how the game is played would just ruin the game further.
Instead of limiting 3s, just let defenders actually defend instead of being called for touch fouls anytime they get close to a shooter

I’m pretty sure Morey gets paid for running the Sixers, not for spitballing new ideas for the league.
Anyways, I don’t like this idea either but I’m pretty sure the league will do something to change the value of the 3-ball in the next 3-5 years. Moving the line. Getting rid of corner 3’s. Something.

Just because somebody is smart enough to take advantage of a specific rule doesn’t mean they love that rule.

He is proposing this to benefit his own team which is not a great 3 pt shooting one.

Idk I mean this man was years ahead on the idea of- “chuck up as many 3s till our arms fall off”... maybe he is on to something ?

I'm not sure the rules around 3s need to be changed, but this would be the obvious one before anything bizarre is considered.

let's see his best players are the most dominant big man in the league and a perimeter player who doesn't shoot 3's.....Wonder why he didn't have this idea in Houston....hmmmmmm

It could result in a more enjoyable game so I don't hate it.
It's also not that hard to track.
I still prefer the change 2s to 3s and 3s to 4s to adjust the opportunity cost analysis of shots but this one isn't horrific either.

I would even consider getting rid of the corner 3 altogether. It’s too easy and taking it away would allow defences to cover the remaining arc better.

Teams should also be allowed to play one +1 point Card per game which would result in every 2 point basket within the next 2 minutes counting for 3 and every 3 point basket counting as 4.
However this will be negated if the opposing team plays the Great Walls Card which reduces the point value of every basket by 1 for 90 seconds.

Am I the only person who doesn't hate 3's? When a team is hitting them at a high rate it's really fun to watch. When a team is missing them at a high rate there's already a built-in punishment of them most likely losing the game. The whole thing seems fine to me.

I like it. Then the league adds more cards every year or so and the coaches can only choose 3 cards they can use in a given game each night. The midget card for instance means that only players under 6-6 can be on the court for 5 minutes. It would add a whole new level of strategy to the nba.
