When do you think we'll have a female player in the NBA?

Not like a Shaq type or Zion obviously, but maybe like a 3 point specialist or someone who can pass the ball really well. If Earl Boykins or a fat slob like Derrick Martin can make it in the league, I'm sure there's some women out there with the athleticism for the NBA. They just need better training. Awesome progress with Becky Hammon obviously to show us that this type of stuff is possible.

This stuff usually happens faster than we think. Im guessing around 2030-2040?

I doubt it will happen. The league is too competitive and too athletic.

No. Like an Amanda Nunes type for MMA. Where she's not running the league but clearly has a chance to keep up with the guys

Has there even been a female player good enough to play in Division I Men's? All it takes is one genetic freak for this to happen, so it's hard to predict when, but considering there are always thousands of male players better than the best female player at any given time, I think it's extremely unlikely.

As soon as the NBA decides to cash in and manufacture a transgender superstar. I'm guessing they'll be playing for the Jazz as well.

I guess the athletic part is up for debate, but there's been a lot of unathletic dudes in the league who get by on talent. There are definitely girls who are better athletes than say Derrick Martin, and all I'm asking about is one person making it.

Not sure I understand the competitive part. Have you ever competed with women for promotions at work? A lot of them are gunners haha

I wouldnt want it to happen. I would just rather see them dominate the women's game. I would rather watch the greatest female player ever then watch a subpar player in the mens game.

I like women's basketball, its a different game, its more about skill than the mens game is because there isnt as large of a gap in the athleticism of the players on average. Scheme, execution, decision making, physicality and mental toughness are more important than.... "oh kawhi just gonna rip through wings until you get somone strong enough to check him. "

It's a guarantee that will happen at some point, as in a born male player who now identifies as female (think Caitlyn Jenner but much younger).

I'm actually surprised we haven't had an out gay NBA player at this point already? Jason Collins only came out after he retired I believe. The more conservative NFL almost beat the NBA to the punch if that out college player who almost got drafted was actually any good.

theoretically maybe a woman with super elevated testosterone condition like what Caster Semenya has could pull it off if they were put through a boys lifting/conditioning program from a young age

There is WNBA for female players, not sure whats the point of having female players in the NBA? And will there be male players in the WNBA to improve the marketability of that league?

I think the NBA should be the place for the best talent in the world and I'm wondering when a woman will clear the competitive bar.

The WNBA should always be for just women since there are differences in average athleticism between sexes and there should always be a place to showcase the best female players
