I know people don’t want to hear it, but Giannis’ performance plus where he has his team at should have him easily in the lead. He’s really turned it on lately.

Luka started really slow because he was fat, but is now starting to round back into the conversation. He was the Vegas favourite before the season began, and he has about as little help as Jokic.

With Embiid and Lebron down, Lucas numbers as the closest to Jokic.

Have you heard anything on a timeline for Embiid to come back? He was my favorite before his injury but if he is out for a few more weeks I think it may be too much to come back from. Especially with so many other worthy candidates.

Yeah well if he’s not coming back soon then I’ll switch my vote to Jokic. Their record will probably be close enough to Milwaukee’s and Portland’s and his stats are amazing. So Jokic - Dame - Giannis. I think Giannis might suffer from some voter fatigue.
Apparently he being feeling better than expected. Shams said on stadium her might return earlier than the timeline.

The complete list of players in the top ten of all time in single-season PER, WS/48, and BPM:

'91 Michael Jordan = arguably the GoAT peak; MVP
'09 LeBron James = arguably the GoAT peak; MVP
'13 LeBron James = arguably the GoAT peak; one vote shy of unanimous MVP
'16 Stephen Curry = arguably GoAT regular season peak; only unanimous MVP
'21 Nikola Jokic = ?

Anyone not voting for Jokic at this point either doesn't understand how good he's been, or is just voting based on feelings.

He shouldn't have to finish in the top ten in history in all three to be a lock: the other 61 MVP's in league history didn't.

Reminder, again, that all three stats are per-minute/possession... and he's second in the league in minutes.

48 games to qualify right? Lebron only has 41 so far.

Doncic has no chance, because you have to be a winner to win the MVP, and Dallas are lost.
With the Clippers and Lakers falling, looks like Denver will get to 3rd place in the next couple of weeks.
But Denver can lose to anyone, so they won't get a stranglehold on 3rd place, just have a good chance.
And I doubt they'll reach the top 2, unless Utah continue to fall.
Chris Paul will make sure Phoenix finish #1, and he's the real most valuable player if we disregard stats.
If voter fatigue is not a problem, Giannis is the safest bet, because Milwaukee are very consistent and have a very good chance at finishing top 2.
But if voter fatigue is a problem then Jokic has the edge.

There is no way you qualify in MVP race with only 2/3 of games played.

I am so sorry for Embiid, he has enormous talent, but that injuries are killing him.
Luckily for Sixers this year they have nice coach and roster who can still win without him.

If Phoenix finish first in the West Chris Paul should be MVP. At least he should be in the poll.
if nobody else runs away (team with clear top seed) and Denver gets in the top 4 then Jokic will win for sure.
If Embiid gets back soon enough he has a good chance as well, but I guess they will be carefull with him.
Giannis is playing better than ever lately, but I don't think he wants to win another MVP before he wins finals MVP.
Dallas needs to improve their record a lot for Doncic to have a chance. I dont see it happening.
I don't believe Dame has a chance. And LeBron is out of the race because of his injury.
And then we have Harden. If he leads the Nets to the best record and everybody else has too many flaws he might win it.

My current list:
CP3, Jokic

Embiid, Giannis, Harden

Doncic, Dame, LeBron

CP is great but he is not in the conversation for me. He joined a suns team that showed me a ton at the end of last year and I think would have been a good team this year with or without Paul. Paul definitely makes them better though than Rubio and Oubre would have. I just don't think it is by as much as some people think.

CP3 is a cute off path name to say but no, the man is in his twilight seasons and while still highly effective/important, he is not close to MVP caliber. I could make a case that Mikal Bridges is nearly equal to their team success.

Again, the MVP is Jokic. Has been all season. I have no idea how or why this mans generational season is being so undervalued.
