I'm old enough to have watched him and West play for the Lakers. Too bad they won the championship the year he retired. RIP to the original Mr. Laker.

The all-time-greatest player who didn't win a ring, and one of the game's most underappreciated. He'd be in top-10 discussions if he had that jewelry.

Respects, Mr. Inside.

Wow this is incredibly sad and random.

RIP to a legend indeed.

I never saw him play. Even I'm not that old but I just read he is the only player to score 61 points in a NBA finals.
My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point. :D

Probably the greatest player to never win a ring. Also averaged 20 Rbs/per one season at 6’5 and scored 61 pts in a Finals game. He was an all-time great. Rest easy legend.

RIP to Mr. Elgin Baylor: the most underappreciated all-time NBA great in history (kind of an earlier mix of Dr J and Barkley with a bit of a point forward), the best player ever to never win a ring during his active career. :-(

He doesn't get enough credit for being the progenitor of the modern offensive move set imo. He was "Euro stepping" in the 60s. RIP.

Wow, that's so unexpected... Rest in peace, one of the greatest players ever and the most influential basketball figures.

Before my time but I was still always a fan since reading about him and seeing his footage when I was younger. Love using him in the video games too dating back to like NBA Live 2000 where you could add any one from the legends pool to a current squad or make your own custom one. great times.

With that being said, R.I.P sir.

Everybody should read Terry Pluto's book "Tall Tales" about early NBA history. He has a section in it about Baylor- great, underrated player who had to deal with Jim Crow related indignities when playing in the south.

Pluto also wrote a great book about ABA history called "Loose Balls".
