Who comes out of the West?

Post#1 » by LakersSoul » Wed Apr 7, 2021 4:37 pm

We have about 5-6 weeks of RS left before the playoffs start. Considering the health of the teams, who do you have making the Finals from the West? And why?

Not Yo Ham Lakers!

Clippers.
If the playoffs started today, they play the Blazers, winner of Suns/Mavericks, and I'm guessing it's between Jazz and Lakers. Maybe the Lakers can't get healthy enough vs the Jazz. I say the Clippers beat the Jazz in 7 games.

If healthy? Lakers.

Beyond that, it's a toss-up.

Either Suns or Nuggets - I can't decide

Healthy Lakers are still the best team in the league imo. Their defense is suffocating, and even average shooting nights by their role players makes them near unbeatable.

Lakers and it won't be close. Lebron and AD will be well rested for the playoffs.

Got the Jazz... Lakers are banged up and I think they're a slightly better team than Denver.

I'm hoping we get out, but if we do it would be similar to the '95 Rockets no?

I have a feeling LeBron and AD are going berserk in PO and win another chip.

Lakers should be the favorite but they're not invincible.

I rather us not be invincible. We are far from it and have a lot of flaws to acknowledge. However it hopefully keeps the team humble and moving forward in a positive mindset. Arrogance is a byproduct of invincibility.

they are absolutely a great team. Clicking now. I do see them able to come out of the west. They arent arrogant like they were last year, that was one of the factors to their downfall. If they do come out, hope they nail another team right now going through the same arrogance minded steps of building a team.

I think we see things pretty similarly.

I went ahead and said the Nuggets because I don't think we should assume the Lakers will be healthy and back in the swing just because the playoffs have started.

I will say I'll probably feel a bit foolish if the Jazz win the West, which is a distinct possibility. With them being the #1 seed, I feel like a more rational play here would be for me to pick the Jazz over the Nuggets. I'm enamored with the Gordon-ified Nuggets, but the Jazz may prove better still.

Clippers are also obviously a threat but I don't feel weird about picking the Nuggets over them. Nuggets beat them last year, Nuggets look better now, Clippers don't really. I don't think the Nuggets beating the Clippers should be seen as an upset at this point.

Beyond that it's hard for me to imagine other teams winning the West. Obviously with the Suns being the #2 seed that's me being skeptical of them. It's one of those things where I tend to assume that bench success is less significant in the playoffs when the stars just play more.

Interesting choice of words given that Brooklyn is in the East. Who are you talking about?
