I guess we’ll find out. Personally I don’t see a clear cut best in today’s NBA. There are a handful of guys in the top tier that are really similar in terms of impact.

Tier 1
Giannis, Kawhii, A. Davis, LeBron, Durant.

Tier 2
Harden, Luka, Jokic, Embiid, Curry, Kyrie, Butler, Dame.

2017-2019, Curry and Green better
Now? Harden, and Kyrie are better and one can make the case for aldridge possibly being better

Durant has played on stacked teams his whole life. Hes a glorified jump shooter that feeds off of elite talent to get open shots.

Op and durant fans are clowns

He's certainly been the best player on teams before. He's just never won anything as the best player.

KD is the best Robin in the NBA.

So everyone who hasnt won anything is "just a robin" then?

Casual viewpoint imho.

KD has proven time and time again he needs another MVP on his team to win a title. Some guys, like Kawhi, can win with a lesser supporting cast. Others, like KD, need to be surrounded by All-NBA teammates. Everyone is different. Not everyone can be a Batman.

LeBron has never been shy about having a massive advantage in talent but we don't take that away from him.

Look at who he played last year.

Non sequitur much, dude. You're using that "outplayed" for a head to head comparison. And in either of the finals at best KD played him to a draw anyway.

Well I think he outplayed him especially in the clutch in 2017.

2018 its harder to fault him because his team was so bad.

2017 if they win Game 3 it could have been a series.

^ This. It’s like yeah, he’s so dominant as a scorer, but he’s above average in every other aspects, but somehow I’m being forced to convinced that he’s the best player in the league. You can make a legit argument that Harden is arguably a much better all-around player than he is even if we don’t take defense into consideration.
Thanks for all the great memories, LeBron! The show must go on! #Heatnation

Needs to be in the category of "scorer". He is the best scorer...with Harden right next to or behind him.

LeBron is the best all around player and leader for a team.

KD is lucky that not many people talk about how badly he shot during the end of WCF in 2016

He thoroughly outplayed LeBron.

2018 isn't remotely debatable.

Other than Game 1, KD was clearly the highest impact player on the court throughout the rest of the series.

Game 4 he literally deferred to try to help Curry win his first Finals MVP.

2017 is no contest if you look at the numbers.

I chuckle every time a KD thread is filled with LeBron fans blatantly crying about talent advantages.

Of all the sports fanbases in the world, past or present, the LeBron fanbase is the one least justified in complaining about stacked rosters.

This era of player-driven superteams was pioneered by LeBron, who has accomplished absolutely nothing without the aide of his self-built superteams.

LeBron fans try to retroactively insist that LeBron carried rosters (the audacity of someone in here to claim LeBron carried Wade, Bosh, Irving and Love) that would barely qualify as supporting casts, when LeBron has consistently had just as much all-star/Hall of Fame support as KD.

KD just did it BETTER, and his successful superteams came at the direct expense of LeBron James.

LeBron James fans simply can't stomach the fact that Durant dominated LeBron in 5 games, swept him easily in the next season and hit two essentially series-clinching shots, which were the defining moments of each series--the first in LeBron's face and the other in Rodney Hood's face, because LeBron had PTSD and didn't want to get another dagger 3 to end the series.

Anyone who watched both series knows that KD was EASILY the most dominant player in the 2017 Finals, and by the end of the 2018 Finals, LeBron had quit. LeBron was the best player until OT of Game 1 started, and then he offered no real impact from that point on.

Getting back to the larger overall topic, Kevin Durant is the best player in the world, and he has been for 5 or 6 years.

Injuries are the only reason he isn't universally acknowledged as such, and LeBron fans know this.

If Durant doesn't injure his achilles, he's obviously going to 3-peat (something LeBron never did despite all his super teams), and who knows? He may have even won four in a row.

The Kevin Durant we saw, prior to said injury, was EASILY the best player in the world and the best player I've seen since Jordan.

But let's try to throw shade at his legacy, while praising a man who tried to recruit AD AND Kawhi Leonard to the Lakers. Who formed a superteam in Miami and then obnoxiously declared they would win every championship for the rest of the decade.

LeBron has made his CAREER off abandoning rosters he doesn't feel are stacked enough and finding even more stacked talent to play with.

He has NEVER been interested in a level playing field. EVER. So LeBron fans don't get to whine about that.

KD is better than LeBron, is set up to win more rings than LeBron and this realization terrifies you all.

Hard to claim that a guy who has played 20 games in 2 years is the best player in the league. That’s my opinion anyways.

Hopefully he can stay healthy for the playoffs finally.

Chuckle about what? Lebron teamed up with a washed up Wade and overrated loser Bosh in 2010 to compete against the stacked Celtics. He didn't do it for talent accumulation but more because the trio were friends.

You could argue in theory they were a superteam but Wade was too washed after the 2011 regular season that made them implode against Dallas.

Heat weren't a superteam since the 2011 regular season, the cavs never were a superteam (Love was fringe top 20, kyrie was like top 30), Lakers weren't a superteam (Only Davis, a fringe top 10-15 player).

I used to believe they were loaded but look at the results when Lebron leaves his teams.

Meanwhile Durant has: MVP westbrook, MVP Curry, DPOY Green, Best 3D player ever, DPOY Ibaka, DPOY roberson, list goes on.

Lebron has seen results where Durant has the bare minimum for someone who some see as near Lebron.

Durant has never been on Lebrons level. I don't even think hes been the best player on his team since 2011.

Can’t be a top 5 guy with 1 mvp

Likely not even a top 10 guy because I don’t have KD replacing a guy like Kobe, Shaq, or Hakeem

Context of rings matter and KD had to join a 73 win team who beat him to do it

Name me someone else who has played with 3 prime mvp winners, I’ll wait

The lengths LeHomers go through to discredit and demean all of LeBron's former teammates, just to artificially inflated his already overinflated legacy. It's legitimately embarrassing to watch.

Maybe if LeBron didn't orchestrate the greatest chokejob by any individual superstar in NBA History, he'd have more than two rings with his Miami superteam.

Context matters, huh? Then let's strip away LeBron's accolades too. What ring did LeBron win without running to a franchise, linking up with other star players and trying to lead the charge for the lowest difficulty rings he could orchestrate?

How is what KD has done in Brooklyn different from what LeBron TRIED to do in LA?

I'll wait.

Discussion over

Can’t be a top 5 guy with 1 mvp

Likely not even a top 10 guy because I don’t have KD replacing a guy like Kobe, Shaq, or Hakeem

Context of rings matter and KD had to join a 73 win team who beat him to do it

Name me someone else who has played with 3 prime mvp winners, I’ll wait

Context matters, huh? Then let's strip away LeBron's accolades too. What ring did LeBron win without running to a franchise, linking up with other star players and trying to lead the charge for the lowest difficulty rings he could orchestrate?

How is what KD has done in Brooklyn different from what LeBron TRIED to do in LA?

I'll wait.

Hopefully he can stay healthy for the playoffs finally.

I believe this is the correct take. KD needs to stay healthy and on the court to get the crown of "best player".

The Nets have looked amazing without him.
