Just one and a half year away from a playoff berth. Both in last season and this one, the Thunder Ws > Pythagorean Ws.

The point isn’t that they’re bad or disgraceful for missing the playoffs.

The point is that they are intentionally putting out a shamefully bad product. It’s one thing to want to have a losing season by virtue of just giving your young guys a lot of run (still not a great strategy to develop a player) but it’s quite another thing to actively be trying to put a G league roster out in the NBA. They’re an embarrassment.

yeah ok. guess what happened to the sonics in 2007? they intentionally put out a bad product, and not only that, were a lame duck franchise. not only did they lose on purpose, they brought in a coach specifically to accomplish this (p.j. carlesimo). nobody remembers it now because that "embarrassment" was foundational to the decade-long success the team saw afterwards.

this is just another example of casual fans manufacturing lame outrage over pretend sports values.

All this hate is silly, but validating. My OKC friends should be coming out firing... This thread must be run by the same posters in the Rittenhouse thread who believed that Rittenhouse had killed multiple black men.

Tanking is clearly the right path for us. Ten 70 point losses wouldn't change that.

But Slick, those are real life facts. You know we don't care about those when it comes to tanking.

SGA so far has been on board with the plan. Doesn't mean it won't change in a year. But for now, he gets to be the #1 guy for an NBA franchise. There's only 30 of those spots available.

exactly, they can still tank by just being run of the mill bad, rather than setting records like this.

To be fair, SGA was actually out yesterday due to concussion protocol and Giddey has been sick. If a team just has bad pieces it's not as egregious as when they actively sit healthy players. That just doesn't sit well with me.

It’s probably #30 out of 30 in the players minds of places to sign as a free agent. They gotta do what they gotta do.

Yes, it is embarrassing that the Raptors lost to a team that’s intentionally trying to lose. It’s extremely embarrassing. Doesn’t change a damn thing about what I said, though.

Imagine Kemba as the tank commander of this team......

Realistically though it wouldn't hurt for them to give up a few assets to put a more competitive team out there with still developing their young guys. They are so deep in assets it wouldnt hurt honestly

Hopefully they can add some overpaid scorers at the deadline.

Yes, the 73 pt. loss was embarrassing, but they were missing half of their rotation. They've been mostly competitive this year and always try hard. Every NBA team knows a double digit lead against the Thunder is not safe.
