Bynum was healthy enough to make an all-star game and earn his second contract
Oden was healthy for all of 50 games

Easily Oden. He had a much better head on his shoulders and the little we did see suggested he was more talented than Bynum as well.

In this era Oden. Back in the day Bynum, he had better foot work and was a better post player than Oden.

Bynum was arguably the best center in the league. Oden could have been great, but still just potenial

Both of them would seem sort of odd men out in the current league no?
Embiid matches up to them physically but he's a legit 3 point shooter.

You have guys like drummond, steven adams and gobert. No reason either of these guys couldn't just rebound and defend. Bynum had a soft touch, I think he could have developed a decent 3. Not to sure of Oden's game, but could he run the floor for easy baskets and lobs...basically be a better capela

When Oden was healthy he had top 10 impact. He was a defensive monster, there’s a reason he was taken ahead of Durant. Not in any draft would Bynum have even been considered over Durant.

Oden was a monster, healthy he would have been the best C in the league back in the day. Sadly i think we never got the chance to see him 100% healthy.
Nowadays he would been better than Gobert for sure.

Oden had all-time great potential. He would have been the next great big man. I'm talking top 15 potential. Maybe top 10.

Oden was a better defender than Bynum, but Bynum was much longer. Bynum was also better offensively and had nice form on his jumper. Too bad he wasn't allowed to shoot 3's.
Oden is probably better overall.

Did 11 people actually vote for Bynum?
Healthy Bynum was a fringe Allstar, healthy Oden would have been an ATG Center. This dude dominated both Horford and Noah in the NCAA title game as a freshman and was the consensus 1st overall pick ahead of a clearly talented KD. He’s one of the biggest what if stories in NBA history.

Bynum’s standing reach was measured at 9’4”. Oden was measured 1/4 inch longer. No real advantage there.

They would both easily be top five big men far ahead of guys like Gobert who just got a handsome payday.

Oden never proved he was worthy of his draft stock while he was in the league so Bynum
East #1 Draft Picks: Fultz, Banchero, Wiggins, Cuninigham
West #1 Draft Picks: Edwards, WIlliamson, Ayton, Towns

Re: Would You Rather Have a Healthy Andrew Bynum or a Healthy Greg Oden?
Bynum is mentally immature.
I have seen him on offense, if he knows he is not getting the ball down in the block, sometimes he doesnt have his hands up or make any suggestion to the defense that he still needs to be guarded. He overtly shows it in his demeanor.
The other team can scout that. Also when he is feeling perturbed or not satisfied about something, he'll shoot a 3 pter or do something to piss off the coach.
That isnt teamwork to me. I detest that kind of disrespectful immaturity.
I wanted the guy off the team long before they were trying to trade him.
I am sure Oden is a pro and has a higher character. I could care less about talent level; a guy's character and work ethic (towards skill) is what trumps it for me

Drummond is seen as vastly overrated and overpaid, Adams is not a big impact player, and there is no way either Oden or Bynum have the defensive impact Gobert has

Those "overrated" and "non impact" players are still 30mpg players in this league. That "overpaid" Drummond might be the key to helping the lakers repeat. Put Steven Adams on that Laker team, and he would have been a big impact in helping the Lakers win last season.
Never said that the either would be a DPOY of the year like Gobert, just that both could still have a role today's league even though the game has changed. When Pau Gasol was still elite and the Lakers were having a problem getting enough touches for Bynum, Phil Jackson asked him to focus on defense and rebounding and he did quite well in that role when asked.
