Curious how these things work when it involves someone who's dead. What kind of rights does the family get to keep and for how long?

no idea if this is the right or wrong thing for Bryant estate, I just hope Vanessa has good people advising her and not some piranhas lookin to get a dime off Kobe's name whatever happens next

Something about this doesn't sit right, I don't know why. I just hope at the end of the day Kobe's kids and grandkids end up the long term beneficiaries and the wrong people are not getting too greedy and making stupid mistakes.

Fuuuuuu uuuuck nike. They've been doing Kobe fans dirty by making everything limited and inaccessible.
The Kobe 4,5, and 6 are simply the goat guard shoes. There's a reason why so many NBA players are wearing his shoes.

5s are the most comfortable basketball shoes I’ve ever worn. It was just perfect for me in every aspect.

Bought a few pairs of 6s, 4s and 9s...resellers are raising the price of these Kobes by the 100s thinking these will be the last pairs ever..

5s were the best looking, but I found the 6s better performance wise for me. They had the insole that molded to your foot after a couple of wears. It was a nice touch of personalization to go along with the comfort. Both shoes were special when it came to comfort and performance.

That's a good question. It's a really sad situation and from what's been released it seems that prior to Kobe's untimely passing there were tensions between the 2 parties.
This dude brought in millions if not billions of dollars to Nike. Personally, they should give said lifetime deal to Vanessa and her 3 kids who are still with her considering the history. They don't have to, but it'd be a great gesture.
I hope things stay well for Vanessa and the 3 daughters. Hopefully they don't get railroaded by a bunch of vultures the way Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan did with their financial advisors.

I think the reason other than the lifetime deal was that they wanted to make Nike's more accessible and release more rather than keeping them exclusive which is what Nike wanted to do (I believe Kobe wanted to do this before he died) .
If that is the case good on Vanessa for sticking to her guns.

So what happens after? A BBB type adventure using Kobe’s name and some random shoe design?
I assume any and all existing designs would be owned by Nike, who would hold intellectual property rights for the duration of the contract (which expired 4 days ago)?
