Funny people say this when ratings buck this trend, playoff games in the NFL get far better viewership because one game sends either team home. In the best of 7 series of the NBA it seems outside of hardcore NBA fans and fans of the two teams involved most don't draw nearly the attention.

You would need to lose twice in a row to lose your spot.

It’s clear you don’t understand how the play-in works if you think all it takes is to lose just once against a hot shooting team.
7 seed hosts 8 seed
9 seed hosts 10 seed
Loser of 7/8 hosts winner of 9/10
So it would take two matches, not just one, which is what you implied.
