hope this isn't harsh or personal.

But these takes are so stupid you can't even keep straight of what you're arguing.

How exactly is risking eliminating the Lakers all about the $$$?
"All about the Money" aside...

There is a scenario where, regular season and play-in, the Lakers finish 7 games ahead of San Antonio, but the Spurs would be in and the Lakers would be out of the playoffs.

Conceivably, this win gap could be even greater in some years.

What's the point of the regular season in that case?

It will be fun to watch, but playing 72 games to eliminate 10 out of 30 teams seems a bit ridiculous, with 3 teams that are 34-38 or 33-39 making it doesn't seem like teams that should really be in the postseason.

2/3 of the teams getting post season games.

Can't imagine if the NFL had 24 out of their 32 teams play past the regular season.

I was all for it until we won the eighth seed. Now I'm against it.

I love the play in! Even crazier if one of the play-in teams end up being the eventual Champions.

I dislike the play in. The top two teams are at a disadvantage because they won’t know who they are playing. Especially the number one seed as they have to wait for both games to find out. While the 3-6 seeds have a week to prepare for each other. The top seeds are supposed to have some advantages. Playing at home this season isn’t the advantage anymore as most places can’t have full capacity stadiums to give that atmosphere.
So their advantage is not having as much time to prepare for their opponent. Nice.

All this play in did was give the bottom teams a chance. But if you’re the Celtics and wizards you’re probably pretty mad that you might not even make the play offs even though you’re 7 and 8 seeds. Same in the wet for the Lakers and golden state.

I love it, especially the fact that it's knock out games instead of series
I probably like it more than the playoffs because of this reason

it was "always" a good idea. Only people that dont like it are teams/fans in the 7/8 spot. In the end it will bring in more money which is why guys played this condensed season in the first place.

So if we didn't have the playin we would have had two end-of-season games where the winner went to the playoffs and the loser went home. Instead we had two end-of-season games where the most likely result is that the winner will go to the playoffs and the loser will go home. If that result doesn't happen, this means we get a worse playoff bracket.. like does anyone really want to see the Spurs or Memphis in the playoffs over the rightly deserving Lakers or Warriors? Do we want Charlotte or Indiana in there? Do any of these exciting playin-game adjustments improve the playoffs at all?

The only people who hate the play in games right now should be thr players/staff/fans of all the 7/8 seeds.

Other than that, it’s going to be like a mini NCAA tournament. I can’t wait. I’m cheering for mass chaos.

I am all for the playin. I think they should extend it to 6,7,8,9,10,11.

Regular season NBA games have become meaningless, the more we can substitute those games for ones that matter will be good for the league.

It also helps (but doesn’t completely eliminate) tanking, and resting players, which are two of the biggest challenges the NBA faces today.

It also gives more fan based something to be excited about.

Tell me you won’t be tuning into Lakers vs Warriors.

6-11 has the challenge of figuring out the bracket. What format would you give it?

Whoever thought of it should get a raise.

-Not Lebron James.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

I wish the NBA took yesterday a bit further and ran a March-Madness style national TV lineup with multiple national TV games going at once. How cool it would be to have 3-4 NBA games on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2 all tipping off within an hour or so of each other all day, with playoff scenarios playing out in real time? I felt like yesterday's schedule had too much down time post-GSW/Memphis

Play-in itself will be great. I don't imagine much movement from what the current seeding is, but we shall see. That's the fun of it. I was very anti-play in when it looked like the Mavs were destined for it, but now zooming out a bit, it's going to make this week incredibly entertaining.

I'm confused by it still. Why would the 7th and 8th seed be playing against each other?
