Awesome. Glen Taylor has been a massive boat anchor around the franchise for years.

Damn what is Arods net worth ? Didn’t know he had bank like that for 50 50 ownership. Thought for sure he was just the ‘name’ to get the deal done and would have some minority stake.

Question is how did A Rod afford the 750m. His networth should not be that high.

According to FORBES he made $475m in career earnings. FORBES has his current value at $350M which is a long ways away from the $750 he would need for a 50/50 partnership.

KG will get his numbered retired now. How good of the owners they will be beside that is yet to be seen.

Parents out there: if your kid is a natural athlete, have him play baseball.

I'm guessing A-Rod is just the face of the ownership group, otherwise how would he be able to afford 750 million.

A-Rod doesn't necessarily have to have $750 million. He could have special voting shares in this enterprise that grants him 50% control.

Yea I'm willing to bet he has the most invested of his own group, but there's enough people in there to fill out the rest.
So, he's probably majority owner of his 50%

This is something that still baffles my mind to this day. I get you get more exposure and more endorsements by playing football or basketball but from a salary perspective baseball is where its at.

Not really. If you're the BEST baseball player then sure. The average nba contract is nearly double that of MLB's. Also the pill popping and drugs used for some of those guys in baseball should be pretty scary. Pain killers are so abused in MLB and NFL circles.

way easier to be a low-midlevel pro hooper than baseball player.

I don't think people realize how many guys just open and pray for a 4 year top tier pro career at near league min. If you can get that in the NBA, life is so much better than baseball. If you're 18 and about to be the first pick in the draft in the MLB well I can see taking baseball over the nba. And even then you might get a killer signing bonus but you still have to work your way to the MLB. And injuries along the way and that signing bonus is it for you.
