So is Cameron Payne Actually...Good?

Post#1 » by Liam_Gallagher » Wed May 26, 2021 4:13 pm

For a couple of years there RealGMers consistently called Payne the worst player in the league. I never really saw him play but it looks like he turned that around. He's a fiesty, fast, athletic guard who isn't afraid of the moment. In just 18 MPG this year, he averaged 8.4 PPG and 44%3PT!

Phoenix also looks better with him out there than Paul as Paul hurt his shoulder.

Is Cameron Payne actually...good...?!

He's been amazing since the bubble, it's an amazing turnaround given that he was playing in China not that long ago.

He was good last year as well, just didn't play much.

I'm happy to see him playing so well. I really liked him during his draft year, thought he would've easily ended up at least as a starting quality point guard. It sucked to see him fizzling out so quickly. The comments the Bulls coaches made about him must've lit a fire in him.

I was torn on who should win COY but it should clearly go to Monty Williams for somehow making Cam Payne not suck. Coach of the Century.

Wow, I'm shocked. Cameron Payne was just awful for the Raptors. One of the worst player I had seen.

It is shocking after what the bulls said about him

"We knew the second practice that he couldn’t play at an NBA level, The only reason it took two practices was because we thought maybe it was nerves in the first one."

I don't follow Cameron Payne too much, but as a person, sometimes when you hit rock bottom to a point where nobody (NBA in this case) wants you, your inner self would slap you awake and motivate you into the a better person than ever. I'm guessing that's what happened because he's relentless and plays with such urgency. He still makes mistakes, but you can tell he's not just Russell Westbrook's hype man anymore.

What was wrong with his attitude in Chicago? I don't remember.

Yes I saw first hand the man put in work when he was on a summer camp deal with the Raptors. He really impressed me with his effort and wanting to get better. But Phoenix has helped him take the next step.

The Rico Hines runs when he was playing with the Raptors really showed he wanted to make it.

His career highlight is still to be pre-game dancing partner to Westbrook.

Who said that quote? I've always been skeptical of it because why trash a player (especially one on your roster) like that publicly?

But his effort was there. He was slowly improving and wanted to get better.

CP3 mentoring him really helps. Schroeder was dope last year with CP3 as a mentor. Now he is a chucker with bad passing vision and turnover machine.

Let's see how he plays on the road before making this determination. I bet he'll disappear without that crowd fueling him.
