WC | Rd. 2| (1) Jazz vs (4) Clippers [2-0 Jazz]

Post#1 » by Catchall » Sun Jun 6, 2021 10:12 pm

Utah Jazz and LA Clippers will open with Game 1 in Salt Lake City on Tuesday, June 8. The Clippers just battled through 7 games with the Mavericks, while the Jazz will have been off for nearly a week after winning their series with Memphis in 5 games.

Jazz in 6.

Clippers could barely handle a team with only two players averaging over 15 points lol.

I need to see who plays for the Clippers in this Jazz series. I don't think Marcus Morris and Nic Batum are going to cut it on the interior against the Jazz. Serge Ibaka could be a factor in this series if he can play.

I thought Dallas' defense was gimmicky in their series. Kristaps was a defensive liability and neither Tim Hardaway nor Luka Doncic were solid defensively. Putting Boban behind them was a compensation to keep the Clippers' wings from getting to the rim. That worked, but it gummed up the Mavericks offense on the other end.

A lot depends on Conley. If he's healthy I think Jazz in 6. If no Conley then it's hard to see the Jazz winning.

The other interesting part will be Marcus Morris. clippers will play him at the 5 to keep Gobert out of the paint. Either Gobert stays in the paint and Morris will have to make open 3's, which he can, or Gobert stays on Morris leaving the paint open. Curious to see how that plays put.

I think the Clippers take one of the first 2 in Utah, it feels like that tends to happen when one team has a bunch of time off after cruising through Round 1 and the other had to win a couple of big games in an extended series. I also think the Clippers are going to look better against the Jazz than the Mavs. Luka is a matchup nightmare but Zubac can actually contribute a lot against the Jazz. I think its the Clippers in 6.

Also Conley's hamstring could be a big part of this. He's currently just going to "get evaluated prior to game #1".

I believe Cllipers will just not have legs on Tuesday..very likely 1-0 Jazz..
Now can LAC take three in a row afterwards and get 3-1 lead before going back to Utah for game 5?
Because thats exactly they will need to do to win in six and avoid game seven in Utah..
I doubt...
So either way should bee Jazz in 5,6 or 7..:)

Jazz don’t have a physical beast like Luka but have a much better overall attack. It’s going to be a tough uphill climb to win. Beverly/Rondo/Zubac all have better matchups in this series and hell Demarcus could even get some run

Even if they do..Gobert can put 20+..Bojan easily 20-30..Clarksson comimg from bench will very likely average at least 15ppg..
o’Neil is great 3pt shooter.and you have Ingless and Favors there as well..thats 7 people with great or good enough offense
Good luck stopping all if them

If the Clippers keep playing Marcus Morris at the 5, he's giving up at least 5 inches and about 40 lbs to Gobert. If the Clippers play Zubac, the Jazz will attack him in pick-and-roll like the Mavs just did. The guy the Clippers need here is Serge Ibaka. Not sure what his status is.

Hopefully this is less boring than Jazz letting Ja Morant waltz into the paint for a floater every trip down the floor. Give me spice!

Need to know the health of Ibaka and Conley
** Embiid is the only MVP in NBA history to never make a conference final
** Philly won multiple playoff games without MVP Embiid, including a 2nd-round game on the road
** LeBron missed the playoffs with Davis
** Steph missed the playoffs without Klay

I wonder if they start Zu game one or try to see if the spacing thing can work and bring Zu off the bench for 20 mins.

Patrick Beverly could be a help but Mann is doing a lot of the work. Kennard needs to keep playing the Mavs we’re flustered with the screens using Luke

I think the Clippers like the rotation they've got going and they'll play Morris as a stretch-5, unless Ibaka can go.

From the Jazz's standpoint, I don't think the Clippers have anyone who played big minutes against the Mavs who can stay in front of Mitchell. Clippers will need to re-introduce Pat Beverly or give Rondo significant minutes. If Mitchell gets past his defender and the only bigs are Batum and Morris, those guys are going to be under a lot of pressure.

Jazz in 4 or 5 if they have Conley. Jazz in 7 if they don't have Conley.
