Mark Cuban finally being exposed as the awful owner he is

Post#1 » by Leslie Forman » Thu Jun 17, 2021 11:03 pm

Is the sheen finally off this snake oil selling charlatan?

The man only became rich off of essentially a scam he sold to the morons at Yahoo that was maybe the worst corporate purchase ever. Every other company he's created is pretty much worthless in comparison. The guy literally had Ring right in front of him available for next to nothing and this supposed tech genius had less vision than SHAQ for it.

He talks about all his fancy data forward thinking just for him to do dumb crap like dump Steve Nash so he can give Erick Dampier a ton of money, and stopping his own front office from taking Giannis because he just loves signing crappy overpriced centers so much.

It turned out he had a horribly misogynist, toxic organization full of sexual harrassment the entire time he was there, but this control freak supposedly "had no prior knowledge" of it.

And now he's apparently just going full Jerry Jones with a degenerate gambler as his right hand man (as far as we know).

So we've got lots of front office meddling, an office full of sexual harassment, horrible contracts handed out like candy to B/C-list fake "stars," and now a highly respected coach quitting with multiple years left on his contract, which I can't remember ever happening in recent memory except for non-basketball reasons (Rudy T).

Is this guy just Dolan but with Luka instead of a crappy blues band?

Cuban's biggest fault is his loyalty to certain players/coaches. It set the Mavs back a decade.

Mark Cuban is a great owner. Mavs were one of the first franchises to put the players first ahead of costs. Every podcast I’ve heard someone talk about Cuban they express how he has great character and mainly does right by people

Mav fans you guys are still in good hands

Exactly how is this any different from supposedly awful owners like Dolan, Vivek, Reinsdorf, etc?

"He's a good owner, he just makes terrible decisions" yeah ok

Cuban pioneered Player mental health and putting the player first. What a very idiotic take.

The reality is it is very hard to win consistently in the NBA if you aren't LA/New York/Miami, the only places players want to be.

I would love to have Cuban as an owner.

Even with such low hanging fruit this is a pretty bad troll job. I give it half a star. More effort next time. You left off Dairy Queen, ref baiting, Sharknado, driving around looking for DeAndre, the Frankenstein haircut, those awful football Mavs jersies he tried to make a thing for way too long, The Benefactor. And those are just the hits. Didn't even get into the deep cuts this sort of OP really requires.

i mean...i don't think he's a snake oil salesman, not sure where u got that from, don't think he's a particularly bad owner in general sense either...seems like he's been out the game for a while with a lot of stuff on the side...which is fine...but that just means he needs someone to be making ALL bball decisions...he can't do that while pretending to be some type of dogecoin and polkadot buff on twitter

Way too early to tell. While it's fun to speculate, none of us know yet what "really" happened, nor do we know who the replacements will be. I mean, if Cuban somehow gets Masai and, say, Pops as replacements, I think people here will be calling him a genius.

That said, yeah, looks bad now--but more importantly, I'm just glad it's not the Knicks this time! :D
RIP magnumt--you're literally why I'm still here on these boards.
RIP The Hater--keep up the good fight in the great beyond.

I don't know if he's an awful owner, because he empowered players. But he's definitely been a part of his fair share of controversies. He's loyal to a fault where he lets his long time boys create a toxic work culture, and sweeping sexual harassment under the rug. Then when **** hits the fan, he doesn't exactly keep his guys accountable until the breaking point.

He's liked by many, but he's always come off as a douche to me. But hey, what billionaire isn't a complete ***hole who F's people over on a daily basis? Seems like par for the course.

I mean 80% of the teams in the NBA haven't won yet or haven't won in 30-40 years. So basically these owners suck too right?

Mavs just won their lone title 10 years ago. Made 2 Finals appearance in 15 years. I would say he is doing fine, its just that its very hard to win and be competitive every year.

I agree with your post except for the highlighted bit. Haralabob is not a degenerate gambler imo. He takes a very analytical approach and has made millions from sports betting. And he's a reasonably successful poker player as well.

It's not like he's the guy in the casino dumping loads of money at the craps table lol.

There isn't even any actual proof of all his supposed basketball betting millions. It's literally just him saying it, and people believing it.

Even then, if an NBA owner decided to dump his experienced basketball people so he could listen to Phil Ivey instead, would you think that's a good idea?

Of course not.

And of course, the proof is in the pudding right now - that roster outside of Luka is total hot garbage.

He's not a terrible owner, but he might be pretty bad at making basketball decisions for things around the margins. Luka was obviously an amazing get but the Mavs certainly have a heuristic for player acquisition

If the mavs weren't bad the years before drafting Doncic they wouldn't have been in a position to draft him and they'd probably be a treadmill team now.Drafting an all time great like Doncic is the best result the Mavs could have hoped out of the last decade.
