He and pg are great friends. That is partly why he is playing so well. He might take a team friendly deal like $20 mill for 3 years

We don't have his full bird rights, only early bird. If Kawhi max. extension happens our salary cap will reach to above the tax apron. That means, we can only extent his early bird rights with %100 percent increase of his current salary which is 2.4 million USD. (3/16 m USD) I don't think he'd be thrilled with that offer unfortunately.

This is how I understand the rule unless I'm missing something. So 4/40 range. I don't think tax apron has any effect on early bird rights does it?

He's a very niche type player. If you hire him with the expectation to run the point then you will be getting the (same) old Reggie Jackson. If you put him alongside someone to orchestrate the offense or into a solid motion-based system then he can thrive. He'd be great alongside Simmons or Harden, or back in the Clippers AAU style offense.

I'd agree that even at $10 million per he's a bargain. In Detroit he had some great stretches and he had stretches where he seemed to lose interest and his fire. I guess that happens sometimes on bad teams, but it would make me hesitant of giving him a 4 year deal. He is 31 so the smart deal on his end likely is a 4 year deal. He is looking for his last NBA paycheck most likely.

His ideal role is probably that of a Lou Williams type come in and score 6th man of the year because of his defensive shortcomings. In LA you kind of have an idea situation around him because Beverly, George, and Leonard are all great defensively so you usually can put him on the opposing teams worst scorer at the 1-3 positons.

I could see a team with capspace look at him as one of the best options available to them and go $60 million over 4 years (maybe with a 4th year team option). I believe that is still less than Kennard got.

He'd be great on the Mavs IMO. And they have more than enough cap space to sign him.

Whoever signs him needs to do so with the expectation that he's a backup combo guard to handle some of the scoring load when the starters are out. A Lou Williams/Jordan Clarkson type. If you ask him to do anything more than that he's likely going to struggle and disappoint like he did in OKC, Detroit, and on the Clippers during the regular season.

How much is that kind of player worth? Clarkson got $51 million over 4 years last offseason and that was like the most this kind of player has ever gotten paid so that's probably his upper limit.

I'd just be worried about signing Reggie Jackson to a huge contract personally. There are so many horror stories of guys who weren't very good and then had a hot shooting stretch for a couple playoff series and got paid only to end up being a massive bust on their next contract.
