Post-Mortem Results IV: Rising/Treadmill/Waning

Post#1 » by ElectricMayhem » Thu Jul 22, 2021 1:59 pm

Thank you all for your participation in the RealGM Post-Mortem Series. This is the fourth and final segment of the result of the polls. The results are definitely not perfect. Some polls got nearly 100 respondents. Others, less than 10. That's definitely an issue. Still, you get a good general idea of how RealGM felt about the direction of teams. The number represents the percentage of people who voted teams were rising, treadmill, or waning.

Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

The Pacers being universally considered a treadmill team is exactly what I expected to see

You should have replaced treadmill with maintaining or staying the same.

It's a fair point. Treadmill has a negative connotation, but of course some teams are likely to remain at the same level in a good way (Milwaukee, for example).

In fairness, the Pacers poll had about 4 voters.

I can’t really argue with that assessment, excepting that I think a treadmill/contender binary is overly simplistic, nor do I believe every team not exactly stacked to contend should immediately blow it up and tank.

There's only one trophy every year, a league where that's seen as the only worthwhile goal would be horrible to watch since every team without a top 5 player would be blown up.
