Doncic is the best player under NBA and/or FIBA rules. I dont see any other player doing what he is doing in FIBA and also dragging that sorry Dallas team with Hardaway Jr. as his #2 to 7 games against a healthy Clippers team.

Carmelo-in his prime, he played very well in Olympic games

LeBron- besides 2004, his resume speaks for itself

Chris Paul-in his prime

Kevin Durant

Embiid- he's never been easy to guard and he makes grabbing 10 rebounds a game look easy

It wouldn't be terribly different to now. The best players would simply adapt - the differences are not that significant.

One group that may be hampered as through that foul bait because that isn't really a viable strategy under the FIBA rule set.

Probably curry. Luka, jokic because it’s harder to abuse him on defense,kd for the versatility amd then kawhi because with the added physicality he would become the best defender in the world again. Curry would be one, but the rest is in no order. Lebron giannis wouldn’t have the space. Embiid harden would get a lot of offensive fouls. Dame would struggle to finish. Tatum is too weak physically.

Curry has declined every Olympics. He’s 33. It’s too bad we never got to see Curry try for an Olympic gold medal the way Klay, Dray, Iggy, KD and coach Kerr all participate in Olympic gold

LUKA. He's a rules exploiter. And his main successes have been in FIBA. He's still figuring out NBA

These rules are from the FIBA rulebook:

33.6 A player who is in the air
A player who has jumped into the air from a place on the playing court has the right to land again at the same place.
He has the right to land on another place on the playing court provided that the landing place and the direct path between the take-off and landing place is not already occupied by an opponent(s) at the time of take-off. If a player has taken off and landed but his momentum causes him to contact an opponent who has taken a legal guarding position beyond the landing place, the jumper is responsible for the contact.

An opponent may not move into the path of a player after that player has jumped into
the air. Moving under a player who is in the air and causing contact is usually an unsportsmanlike foul and in certain circumstances may be a disqualifying foul.

Yeah, I can see a few players being hurt by this rule.

Now, the anti-flopping rule:

33.16 Fake being fouled
Fake is any action by a player to simulate that he has been fouled or to make theatrical exaggerated movements in order to create an opinion of being fouled and therefore gaining an advantage.

And yeah, I can see a few players being hurt by this rule too.

Luka
Embiid (less fouls called on offense but he would dominate even more defensively)

Our stars and up and coming stars who spend a lot of time at the line (Durant, Harden, Kawhi, Trae Young, Lillard, Westbrook) would all suffer.

obviously it's Luka as #1

I genuinely believe KD stays #2, his game never relied on drawing the foul, he just plays great basketball, if anything he might improve defensively because of the lack of goaltending rules

#3 LeBron James still, he'll figure it out, unreal basketball IQ, a slower than he used to be, but still very much capable of being the best player on a championship as evidenced by his team early in the year

#4 probably Curry here, another guy that transcends with shooting, doesn't need to draw the foul, plays great basketball

#5 Jokic, has experience with Mega Basket, is even better than he ever was

Players that can score from everywhere...with FIBA rules this is the most important thing and they need to be unselfish and have a good IQ. FIBA = skill, skill and more skill, physique is totally secondary.

1 Luka Doncic
2 Kevin Durant
3 Nikola Jokic
4 Stephen Curry
5 Kawhi Leonard

You can add players like Anthony Davis, Chris Paul, Kyrie Irving and of course LeBron James.

They actually call less fouls for post players. It's the reason Tim Duncan called it quits from FIBA ball after the 2004 Olympics. He thought he was getting mugged every trip down the floor.

They call more fouls on the perimeter, which is why Bruce Bowen was basically useless as a FIBA player.

Adrian Wojnarowski: Not if people make calls on him. Not if an organization is doing their homework and knows all the things he brings with him.

You are correct

Well, you're wrong. There is no non-NBA player that would be a top 5 player in the world in basketball regardless of what rule set was used.

Are you aware that the best players in Euroleague are often short, old, 5-10 unathletic white dudes? There's no way in hell a player like that would be better than Kevin Durant on a basketball floor. I don't care if they're allowed to headbutt each other. It's not happening.

It sounds like you actually watch FIBA ball unlike a lot of people on this site acting like it's a caveman league and only mentioning FIBA to denigrate the NBA.

I'm gonna say Anthony Davis. Not sure what you can do against him if he can camp the paint defensively.

Also Luka, he clearly developed his game based on FIBA rules.

Skills/traits with more currency:
-physical (boxing out, setting screens)
-moving without the ball
-will and capable passer
-quick release, efficient 'catch and shooter'
-finishing through contact
-three-pt range

Skills with less currency:
-isolation scoring (less space)
-foul drawing
-transition (less opportunity)
-shot blocking (guard and wing defenders can more effectively stop driving)

Essentially there is less space, so players who can create space through movement, passing, shooting are more important.
Players like Mills, Fournier etc are successful because they're rarely still. Curry potentially becomes more valuable because of this. It's why guys like Bogdan Bogdanovic do well.

If these are the current top tier players, then I'd think:
Durant - equal or more value
Lebron - less value
Kawhi - equal value
Curry - more value
Jokic - equal or more value
Embiid - equal or less value (has the skills but would need to heavily adjust)
Lillard - less value
AD - equal or more value
Luka - equal or more value
Giannis - less value
Harden - less value

How do you justify Luka more value and Harden less? They have essentially a similar skillset.
