Would you rather have Kyle Lowry, Lonzo Ball, or Kemba Walker under their current contract?

Who made the best new point guard acquisition out of the Bulls, Heat, or Knicks?

Explain! Let’s get some discussion going.

Ball is young, not overpaid in the slightest with room to improve, I take him

Ball.

He’s developed into a nice two way player and the contract looks fair.

Also, he may have some upside which the other two do not share.

Well sure, you want Ball of you are rebuilding. But if you want to win now, it's Lowry hands down.

To me this is easily Kemba Walker. Even if he is only 70% of his All Star self, he is still a good value for that contract.

He is a low risk with medium to high reward.

Ball is barely even a PG. Too many people who don't actually watch him play and just know what he was 'supposed' to be coming into the league. Can't run a half court offence, comparing him with Lowry is complete apples and oranges

Ball does have upside but I wont trust him as my point guard Which is what the bulls are expecting.I think he should be turned into a shooting guard or a small Foward

I think the Bulls know he's not a pure PG but they have Lavine who has been developing his playmaking and handling as well as Derozan who is actually a solid playmaker, having those three in the lineup hopefully will mitigate the lack of a real PG. We shall see.

As a Celtics fan that watched every game last season, I disagree.

Saying he’s barely a PG might be too generous. He can dribble the ball up the court and signal, but after that, he’s not going to breakdown the defense, attack with the dribble, draw the defense, etc. he’s strictly an off the ball threat.

Comparing him to players that can fit that role and who you can put tue ball in their hands like Lowry and Walker really is apples to oranges. Ball is more comparable to Caruso.

Walker is sh*t if he is paid under his old (Celtics) contract.

But now he is going to cost only $18 million for the next 2 years. Context matters. That's hella cheap in today's NBA. Again, low risk with medium to high reward.

Kemba is my favorite player on my second favorite team, and I’d still take ball

Schroeder at 1yr /6 looks pretty nice compared to some of these years and dollar amounts.

This is too simplistic IMO. The risk with Kemba is that if he breaks again or sucks even more than he did for the Celtics, you're left just with old man Rose to run your offence.

Money is a limited resource in roster construction. But so are roles on the team. I don't mean the roster spots - I mean you can entice one guy by promising him he'll be your starting PG, and if he sucks you've now wasted that starting role offer that could have gone to another guy (Schroeder for example) and need to pivot and start making more trades mid-season. If he sucks or breaks down you can't say 'oh well, it was a cheap gamble' and wash your hands of it like someone who chucks a few Bucks away on a slot machine - you need to scramble to fix the situation

Give me Ball. You are not winning anything with one of these guys as one of your two best players. Ball fits in easier into any team. He may not be the "PG" But to be honest I wouldn't want to try to win games with the ball in Walker or Lowry's hands either. Ball handling duties are going to wings more and more. Give me the plus defender with good size that has sneakily knocked down a lot of threes at a good clip.

The one that averages 50 wins per season the past 8 years. Kemba probably the best value if healthy.

You're stating it in terms of Kemba is on the court and not quite his peak self but still really good. So in that scenario yes he's on a great contract.

But the more likely scenario is he gets held out of games all year, plays on a minutes restriction when he's out there, and still comes up gimpy and ineffective at the end of the season when you need him.

Or at least that's what happened with Kemba last year. And if he's not playing at all, or playing poorly, he's not a good value on any contract really.

If the knee is bothering him it doesn't just remove some small percentage of his effectiveness. It removes him from the game completely.

(I'm wishing all the best for Kemba and not trying to be a jerk about him. But that knee is chronic.)
