Seriously though, this sucks. And I'm sorry to the 76ers fans.

Cant blame him. After what Embiid and Doc said (even though they were correct, you cant say that to the media). Then throw in the very public trade talks all summer with him as well.

Ya I cant really blame Ben for not wanting to go back there. The bridges have been burnt. Im not even a Simmons fan at all, but ya pretty understandable not wanting to return to that team after everything.

76ers have the leverage. Can Simmons hold out for a year, I doubt it.

Morey in a tough spot here, the lack of win-now packages available makes this tough. They're prob gonna have to keep Ben Simmons and hope he shows up to training camp. A Siakam/FVV for Simmons and Maxey might be the best package they can get right now.

Signing a contract doesn't force anyone to do anything. If he is okay with the potential ramifications then so be it.

Totally rational response and I wouldn't be surprised if he turns into an All-NBA player in the right environment

Will be interesting to see who flinches first between Simmons and Morey. Morey's value demands need to come down a LOT for them to find a deal, and the longer Simmons sits out, the more that value is gonna come down.

Being forced to punt their season when they are a contender because they are holding out isn't what I'd call leverage

If he sits out a whole season, doesn't he forfeit his whole seasons salary? I get sitting a few weeks, but losing out on 29mil... yeah, nah... he ain't going that far.

thats what I thought but not showing up training camp is a big blow ben can easily create drama.
you fine him refuse pay, he will play COD 24/7 40 games in one man embiid is struggling to make 8th seed.
embiid is not going to watch simmons laugh and enjoy streaming while he is labelled as a loser. he will demand out too.

interesting that Zach Lavine just signed with Klutch

Bill Simmons has proposed a Lavine for Ben Simmons trade a few times this summer.
I'll freak out if the Bulls trade Zach for him. Yes he's a better defender but like Jabari Parker said - they don;'t pay you to play Defense in the NBA - except that Philly DID pay him for being a DPOY type.

Lavine has ZERO playoff experience but I feel like he'll be better than playoff Simmons....
