I keep seeing Sixer fans trying to prop up Ben's value by saying that he's a perennial allstar. I see Morey asking for at least an all-star in return for Simmons. I would like to know what are people's opinion on Simmons's future? Does it matter how many all-star teams a player have made in the past if he is unable to make any more in the future?

Its impossible for Ben Simmons to miss an all-star game (unless he's injured), because coaches love him, so he'd never even need the fan vote.
So I guess 10+ more of them, or whenever he's no longer physically fit.

Only foolish, casual fans that don't appreciate his game. Coaches definitely know how good of a player he is. A monster defender who's also a very good playmaker. Prime Simmons regularly makes the team at least as a reserve.

He's a 3x all star in the 4 years he's played. He had 4 bad games and y'all are writing him off like he's done.

3-4 would a safe bet but I'd assume it's going to be 5+

10. he has decades of prime left. this is a prime dpoy with lebron like game. honestly i like his game than lebron at same age he is a better defender lebron ever was a better rebounder, passer. has better intangibles and he understands the game like a 40 yr old draymond. he is pretty much what draymond could have been if he had god given physical traits.

his floor is all nba draymond and ceiling is pre Heat lebron.

Easy 5+, I would say barring injury at least another 6, most likely 8+. As has been mentioned, coaches love what Ben brings to the game and there's always a surplus of players willing to bomb away from deep in the ASG...

Depends on where he lands. Say he gets traded to sac, guard oriented players who like the ball in their hands. Imo simmons game would suffer a little, + if they dont make the playoffs, he can miss alot of all star games. If theres crowded allstars in his position.

If he goes to the West I wouldn't bet on many

I don't see any problem with Simmons...he doesn't shoot 3s, that's all. Rebounds, playmaking, defense, size...this guy will be All-Star a lot of times

I am actually quite surprised with the response.

I am going to say right now that unless Simmons average at least 1 3pt attempt a game, likely 100-200 3pt attempts a season, he will not make another all-star game.

I think the gameplan on Simmons is out already as you can see his offensive numbers decline last year. I am not even talking about post season numbers, just regular season against good and bad teams. Unless he starts shooting and averaging 20 PPG I don't think coaches will reward him for being a good passer and defensive player any more. The thought here is that no coach wants to vote for a guy that everyone knows is useless in the playoffs. The last few years people sort of wondered about it but last year's playoffs proved without a doubt that is the case. I don't care how good of a defensive player you are you can't contribute when you are on the bench in 4th quarters because you can't shoot freethrows.

Of course all SImmons has to do is learn to shoot wide open 3s. If Dwight Howard can do it I don't think it's that hard at all.

Yeah this aint a position we can take any more. Simmons averaged as many TOs as shot attempts in the Sixers last 2 losses against TOR and averaged less than 5 assists in that series, and he didn't crack double digit scoring against a defense with no one to guard him in ATL. His scoring production in the 2nd rd drops by about 50% from his regular season numbers, even though he plays more minutes. It's weird and it hasn't gotten any better in 3 years. (And when a few people on the team very gently called him on it, he ran away and then demanded a trade.)

He's a good RS player and will make some more AS games if he goes to a team where he can run point but he didn't just 'have 4 bad games.'

Ben Simmons didn't deserve to be an all-star last year. Trae Young should have made it over him. Trae was averaging like 30 points a game at all-star break and Ben was averaging like 14.

Coaches and members of the media need to stop giving teams two all-stars just because they have a good team record. The best players should make the all-star team regardless of team record.

Ben Simmons has only been making all-star teams because he plays with Joel Embiid. If Ben played for the Sacramento Kings, he would never make an all-star team. He doesn't even put up all-star numbers.
