RealGM Top 25 Player Poll 2021-22-#20

Post#1 » by Filthadelphia » Wed Sep 8, 2021 7:30 pm

Thanks to the mods for the sticky! The links to each poll will be listed as we go along like past years.
WE BACK. Shoutout to the wonderful @ElectricMayhem for holding it down last year. Yes, I was lazy.

Your favorite offseason debate is back by popular demand!
Thanks to everyone who voted last go around Im excited to see where the 2nd annual edition ends up.

Here's the Rules:
-Vote ONE player per poll. You'll be able to change your vote just like last year for those indecisive folks.
-The criteria of ranking the players is YOUR OWN. The whole point of bringing this to the GB is to attract the widest amount of votes/perspectives on the game as possible to form a true consensus. Some people value shooting over defense, team success over indivdual prowess etc. I want to bake all that in to this poll set no matter how chaotic.
-Each poll a player will win and then be taken out of the field. There will be 25 polls in all.
-There are only 10 possible poll options so I will start with the 10 guys who I personally believe will round out the top 10 in most people's eyes.
-As each poll commences I ask you to COMMENT IN THE THREAD your vote for who should be added in the next poll. There will be a large list of players yet to be added to the field below that you can look over to make your vote. I will tally up the votes in the comments at the end of each poll and add the winner accordingly. For example, if you want Bryn Forbes added in the next poll just comment "Nominate: Bryn Forbes"
-If a poll is overwhelmingly skewed towards one guy I will try, time willing, to edit it early and move on to the next one.
-If there is a tie in the poll. There will be a run-off poll created with just the tying parties to determine a winner. The losers of the runoff will then be added back into the field of 10 for the next poll.
-Feel free to ask any questions via pm or comment
-Feel Free to comment on your reasoning for a pick and why

THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYONE FOR PARTICIPATING!!!!

Either Mitchell or Devin Booker. They're 1a and 1b to me.

I don't think there is an argument for anyone but Towns, unless you think he is a perpetual injury risk, which ... I just don't think is the case. He has been very durable throughout the years. Mitchell and Booker have issues defensively just like Towns (none of them are horrid, but none are great) and Towns is - by far - the best offensive option.

Vote to redo the last polling. Little Kyrie fanboys are still lost in the nostalgia.

People sleeping on KAT big time. Just because he got injured people forget he was giving Embiid the business everytime they faced each other.

I could see why people might prefer Donovan Mitchell for his insane play-off performances the last two seasons but what business does Devin Booker have even getting considered here? Booker is a guy who pretty much only shoots the ball and he isn't even elite at that aspect of the game. Sounds like some people are either biased by the Suns making the finals and not wanting to give CP3 credit or they just look at PPG.

Weird that Towns who finished pretty low last time leads this one. Also I found it a little weird last time and this time that Booker leads Beal by so much. Was Beal not better last year?

Book came on down the stretch on the defensive side and looks like he is vastly improving there though, and of course had some big playoff games.

Middleton has seemed underrated too.

I have a hard time voting on this one...can't decide and don't want to let bias impact it, so have refrained.

Guards probably splitting votes with only one true C there..Towns was 24 last year. Did he improve a lot this year?

Really? i would take booker, beal, mitchell and KAT over middleton quite easily. I like Middleton but he's clearly a #2

Towns doesn't actually have to improve to be a top 20 player. He's suffering from the same thing Booker was suffering from before: being underrated because the rest of the roster isn't good enough. If you look at the numbers and the advanced stats, Towns simply has to be in the top 20.
