The only trade that works is the Rockets taking back similar salary but for an extra year plus a first round pick. The only contract that works is KP or the Wizards with Bertans/KCP plus fillers.

Wizards trade: Bertans, KCP, Harrell, future FRP
Wizards receive: Wall, Josh Green, Tate, Mavs future 1st

Why: They get off Bertans awful 4 year deal. Wall can be used as an expiring deal next season. They get an up and coming talent in Josh Green, Tate is a good hustle guy and pick up a future first.

Rockets trade: John Wall, Eric Gordon
Rockets receive: KP, Bertans, future FRP from Mavs, future FRP from Wizards

Why: They adopt the OKC method of taking on salary to pick up future firsts. If KP regains form, good news you might be able to trade him. If he sucks, then he leads the tank. Same goes for Bertans.

Mavs trade: KP, Josh Green, 2x future firsts
Mavs receive: KCP, Eric Gordon, Montrezl (filler from Wiz)

Why: They get off KPs longer contract and fills it with parts they need. Gordon/KCP can space the floor for Doncic plus KCP is the wing defender they need. Harrell is the perfect pick and roll man for Doncic as well.

Not a perfect deal, but it’s all I could come up with given the circumstances.

It will take at least 2 first rounders to move Wall. A rebuilding team like the Rockets would be insane to do that. Or I guess they could find an even worse contract to move him for (is that possible?) but that’s highly unlikely.

It’s either buy out, Wall sits out the next two years, or accepts a mentorship/backup role on the team. Those are the only plausible outcomes to this.

This. Wall has negative value, though maybe it would only take 1 unprotected first from Houston give the chance that it is high.

I don’t think Philly is that desperate. Wall would come with a big tax bill as well if he ends up there. Apart from Lakers, the only other sizable horrible contract I see is KP’s. Dallas might make sense if they can make the numbers work

Well good luck!
You'd have to attach some actual value for the other team, like 1st round picks, something a rebuilding team like Houston wouldn't want to part with so yeah...good luck.

What you have Wall going back to the Wizards? Do you even pay attention to the NBA?

And you have Dallas giving up 2 first round picks only to get back Harrell, Gordon and KCP? Jesus any GM that does that should be banned from every arena in the league. That’s **** sandwich of a deal for everyone involved except for Houston.

Nah, maybe OKC if Houston is willing to give up multiple protected firsts

They'll have to use draft picks to move him... how does that benefit the Rockets?

Dallas gets off KPs max 3 year deal while giving them players that can actually contribute and fit with Luka all while being on smaller and shorter deals. They’ll be low first round picks anyway. They’d be able to sign max player next off season.

As far as Wall back to the Wizards, plenty of players have returned to former teams. As far as I’m aware, he didn’t burn any bridges. This gets them off Bertans 4 years at $17m and will give them cap flexibility as soon as 2 seasons away - sooner if they trade Walls expiring next season.

Also Houston is taking on 3 more years of KP and 4 years of Bertans and you think they get the best value? I think it’s you who doesn’t know the NBA.

You try find a deal then. No need to be a smart ass

The last thing Dallas needs to do is send more first round picks for a bunch of mediocre players. They get off of KP a year early but at the price of two first round picks when they already owe one to the Knicks. No bueno.

Wizards had to attach a first to get rid of Wall, no way they’re going to trade another one to get him back less than a year later even if they get a Dallas pick. They also signed Dinwiddie to play the starting PG. The Wizards also have a pick owed to OKC.

Under most a circumstances Houston would have to give up a pick or two to move Wall’s contract. The best that they can hope for is an exchange of contracts and maybe bring in a third team. There are less than a handful of teams that need a PG, especially at that cost.

Minnesota - Beasley, Prince and Patrick Beverly
Dallas - Porzingis would need to be move to a third team
Clippers - Bledsoe, Kennard, Ibaka/Zubac to a third team

The options aren’t great. Sorry for being a smart ass, I came in a little hot.

He could be extremely valuable if he accepts the bench.

Philly in: John Wall, Pat Beverly, Malik Beasley & 2 1st rounders from Minny
Philly out: Ben Simmons & Tobias Harris

Minnesota in: Ben Simmons
Minnesota out: Pat Bev, Malik Beasley, 3 1st round picks

Houston in: Tobias Harris & 1st rounder from Minny
Houston out: John Wall

Philly would be stacked with some dogs to fit around Embiid. If Wall can find his groove back, that’s the All-Star they’re looking for. Plus, some picks & outta Tobi’s deal. Win-win-win-win.

Minny gets their Kat/Simmons/Edwards/D’Lo combo & isn’t costing them more than a few picks really (really not a worry with everyone locked in for at least the next couple years).

Houston manages to squeeze a 1st rounder outta Wall’s deal for a better fitting player.

Who says no (now that Morey has to look over realistic offers)?

Houston gets Tobias Harris and a Minnesota first for Wall? Their GM would win executive of the year if he could pull that off.

No way Philly does that.

Houston will need to attach 2 FRPs, one for each year of JW's contract, or they'll have to take back some bad money.

By giving up a 1st round pick for the 2nd worst contract in the league?

He isn’t second worst. It’s also a year shorter than walls. Which we also flipped. Trading wall now will bring back far less than a Westbrook

Yes, yes it is. Their contracts are the same length.

I agree the Wiz did a good job after of bamboozling the Lakers, but that is a separate trade from the original Westbrook and Wall exchange.

I feel for rockets fans. Maybe the only more cursed franchise than the Nets.
